Isaiah Buggs
Isaiah Dwayne Buggs (born August 24, 1996) is an American football defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Alabama. Early years Buggs attended and played high school football at Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana. College career Buggs played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2015 and 2016. During the two years he had 134 tackles and 7.5 sacks. In 2017, he transferred to the University of Alabama. During his first year at Alabama in 2017, Buggs started 13 of 14 games, recording 51 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He had five tackles in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship victory over Georgia. He returned to Alabama in 2018. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style.
