Isabelia
''Isabelia'' is an orchid genus formed by three tiny species and one natural hybrid, spread from the Northeast of Brazil to Argentina, which are closely related to the genus '' Constantia''. During more than a century ''Isabelia'' was a genus formed by just one species, however, around 1968, it was merged with genus ''Neolauchea'', also unispecific. In 2001, a third genus was added to it, ''Sophronitella''. The genus name is abbreviated ''Isa.'' in cultivation. Distribution ''Isabelia'' are epiphytic or rarely rupicolous species that are just occasionally found but usually grow into large colonies, spread in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil from north Bahia to Rio Grande do Sul, both in the humid slopes of Serra do Mar and in the drier forests of the Brazilian Plateau, from sea level to fifteen hundred meters of altitude. ''I. virginalis'' is also found in Paraguay and north of Argentina. ''Isabelia pulchella'' exists from Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul, (1975). ''Or ...

Cássio Van Den Berg
Cássio van den Berg (born 1971) is a Brazilian botanist, noted for work in orchid classification and evolution, especially great changes in the generic circumscriptions of ornamental orchids in the genus ''Cattleya'', based on DNA studies for the subtribe Laeliinae. Career Based on DNA studies studies, he proposed a fusion of the genera ''Cattleya and Sophronitis'', and also included in this genus the Brazilian species of ''Laelia''. In Laeliinae, the studies pointed out to the separation of subtribe Ponerinae, and the transfer of ''Dilomilis'' and '' Neocogniauxia'' to Pleurothallidinae. He also worked in the taxonomy of other orchid genera, such as ''Acianthera'', '' Baptistonia'', ''Bulbophyllum'', ''Cymbidium'', ''Encyclia'', ''Galeandra'', ''Isabelia'' and '' Pleione''. In 2004, he described a new genus of Laeliinae, '' Adamantinia'' Van den Berg & C.N.Gonç. Currently he is full professor and curator of the Laboratory of Plant Molecular Systematics. at Universidade Estadua ...

Paraguay
Paraguay (; ), officially the Republic of Paraguay ( es, República del Paraguay, links=no; gn, Tavakuairetã Paraguái, links=si), is a landlocked country in South America. It is bordered by Argentina to the south and southwest, Brazil to the east and northeast, and Bolivia to the northwest. It has a population of seven million, nearly three million of whom live in the capital and largest city of Asunción, and its surrounding metro. Although one of only two landlocked countries in South America (Bolivia is the other), Paraguay has ports on the Paraguay and Paraná rivers that give exit to the Atlantic Ocean, through the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway. Spanish conquistadores arrived in 1524, and in 1537, they established the city of Asunción, the first capital of the Governorate of the Río de la Plata. During the 17th century, Paraguay was the center of Jesuit missions, where the native Guaraní people were converted to Christianity and introduced to European culture. ...

Campos Rupestres
The ''campo rupestre'' ("rupestrian grassland") is a discontinuous montane subtropical ecoregion occurring across three different biomes in Brazil: Cerrado, Atlantic Forest and Caatinga. Originally, ''campo rupestre'' was used to characterize the montane vegetation of the Espinhaço Range, but recently this term has been broadly applied by the scientific community to define high altitudinal fire-prone areas dominated by grasslands and rocky outcrops. Geography ''Campo rupestre'' (sensu lato) occupies less than one percent of the Brazilian territory, 66,447km2, and it is concentrated mostly in the states of Minas Gerais, Bahia and Goiás. This ecoregion consists of a series of relatively small and isolated grasslands and rocky outcrops mostly distributed in the Espinhaço Range in eastern Brazil, surrounded by lowland and montane forests. It also forms discontinuous enclaves in other mountain ranges, such as Carajás Mountains, Serra da Canastra, Serra do Caparaó, Cha ...

Luminosity
Luminosity is an absolute measure of radiated electromagnetic power (light), the radiant power emitted by a light-emitting object over time. In astronomy, luminosity is the total amount of electromagnetic energy emitted per unit of time by a star, galaxy, or other astronomical object. In SI units, luminosity is measured in joules per second, or watts. In astronomy, values for luminosity are often given in the terms of the luminosity of the Sun, ''L''⊙. Luminosity can also be given in terms of the astronomical magnitude system: the absolute bolometric magnitude (''M''bol) of an object is a logarithmic measure of its total energy emission rate, while absolute magnitude is a logarithmic measure of the luminosity within some specific wavelength range or filter band. In contrast, the term ''brightness'' in astronomy is generally used to refer to an object's apparent brightness: that is, how bright an object appears to an observer. Apparent brightness depends on both the lumin ...
