Isa Mohammed Bagudu
Isa Mohammed Bagudu (born 1948) is a Nigerian politician who was elected to the Nigerian Senate to represent the Niger South constituency in April 1999, and was reelected in April 2003. Born in 1948 of Nupe origins, his father Waziri Bagudu was a member of the Ibadan Municipal Council in the 1950s. Bagudu attended Ansarudeen College, Isolo. He was a director of NICON from 1991 to 1993. Bagudu was elected to the Niger South senatorial constituency of Niger state on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform in April 1999 at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic. He was appointed vice chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. A senate is a deliberative assembly, often the upper house or chamber of a bicameral legislature. Zainab Abdulkadir Kure
Zainab Abdulkadir Kure (born 24 November 1959) was elected Senator for the Niger South constituency of Niger State, Nigeria, taking office on 29 May 2007. She is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Life Kure obtained a BSc in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1984. She worked as a civil servant in Niger State before running for senate, and rose to the position of permanent secretary. Her husband Abdulkadir Kure was governor of Niger State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. After being elected she was appointed to committees on National Planning, Capital Markets and Agriculture. In a mid-term evaluation of Senators in May 2009, ThisDay noted that she had sponsored the National Grazing Reserves Establishment and Development Commission Bill, 2008 and the National Poverty Eradication Commission Bill, 2008. Nupe People
The Nupe (traditionally called the ''Nupawa'' by the Hausas and ''Tapa'' by the neighbouring Yoruba) are an ethnic group native to the Middle Belt of Nigeria. They are the dominant ethnic group in Niger State and a minority in Kwara State. The Nupe are also present in Kogi State and The Federal Capital Territory. History The Nupe trace their origin to Tsoede who fled the court of Idah and established a loose confederation of towns along the Niger in the 15th century. The proximity of Nupe to the Yoruba Igbomina people in the south and to the Yoruba Oyo people in the southwest led to cross-fertilization of cultural influences through trade and conflicts over the centuries. The Fourth Republic is the current republican government of Nigeria. Since 1999, it has governed the country according to the fourth republican constitution. Nigerian Muslims
Islam is one of the largest religions in Nigeria and the country has the largest Muslim population in West Africa. In 2021, the CIA World Factbook estimated that 53.5% of Nigeria's population is Muslim. Islam is predominantly concentrated in the northern half of the country, with a significant Muslim minority in the southern region. Islam was introduced to what is now Nigeria during the 11th century via trade routes with North Africa and the Senegalese basin, and it was the first monotheistic Abrahamic religion to arrive in Nigeria.
