Iron Gustav
''Iron Gustav'' (German: ''Der eiserne Gustav'') is a 1958 West German comedy film directed by George Hurdalek and starring Heinz Rühmann, Lucie Mannheim and Karin Baal.Bock & Bergfelder, p. 308. It is based on the real story of cab driver Gustav Hartmann who drove his droshky from Berlin to Paris. The story was later made into a television series of the same title in the 1970s. In was shot at the Tempelhof Studios in West Berlin with location shooting in the city as well as Cologne and Paris. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Hans Berthel and Karl Schneider. George Hurdalek
George Hurdalek (6 February 1908 – 15 June 1980) was a German screenwriter. He wrote for more than 40 films between 1934 and 1975. He was born in Görlitz, Germany, and died in Munich, Germany. Harry Meyen
Harry Meyen (born Harald Haubenstock; 31 August 1924 – 15 April 1979) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 40 films and television productions between 1948 and 1975. In the 1960s he also worked as a theatre director in West Germany. Personal life Meyen was born in Hamburg, the son of a Jewish merchant who was deported to a concentration camp during the Nazi regime. The 18-year-old Meyen himself was incarcerated as a ''Mischling'' and survived the Neuengamme concentration camp. After the war, he began his career with Willy Maertens at the Hamburg Thalia Theater. From 1952 he performed at the Theater Aachen and from 1955 moved to Berlin. Also starring in films directed by Helmut Käutner, Falk Harnack and Wolfgang Staudte, he played the role of a young ''Luftwaffe'' officer in the 1955 movie ''Des Teufels General'' side by side with Curd Jürgens. Ingrid van Bergen (; born 15 June 1931) is a German film actress. She has appeared in 100 films since 1954. She was born in Free City of Danzig, today Gdańsk, Poland. Career Since 1954, Ingrid van Bergen appeared in more than 170 film and television productions. Ernst Schröder (actor)
Ernst Schröder (27 January 1915 – 26 July 1994) was a popular German theatre, film and TV actor. Life Born in Herne, Schröder began his acting career at the nearby Bochum Theatre in 1934, under the director Saladin Schmitt. He worked there until 1936, also working as assistant director and Stage Designer. After working at Bielefeld and Wuppertal, he moved to the Schiller Theatre in Berlin in 1938, which became his artistic home and the location of his greatest triumphs, particularly after the Second World War. During the war he served briefly in the army, was wounded, and returned to the Schiller Theatre in 1942. When in 1944 the theatre was closed, he returned to serve in the army, and ended the war in Italy as a prisoner. He returned to the theatre in 1946 and rapidly re-established his reputation.
