Irina Vlah (born 26 February 1974) is a Moldovan politician. She served as member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova from 2005 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2015. Since 15 April 2015 she has been the Governor (''Başkan'') of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia Gagauzia or Gagauz-Yeri, or ; ro, Găgăuzia; russian: Гагаузия, Gagauziya officially the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia; ro, Unitatea Teritorială Autonomă Găgăuzia, ''UTAG''; russian: Автономное территор ... Governor Of Gagauzia
The Governor of Gagauzia, (''Başkan'' ()), is the highest political position in Gagauzia, an autonomous territorial unit of Moldova. They chair the Executive Committee of Gagauzia and are an ''ex-officio'' member of the Cabinet of Moldova. The position is created by the 14th article of the law on the legal status of Gagauzia No. 344-XIII (December 23, 1994). All state authorities in Gagauzia are subordinate to the Governor. The governor is elected by universal, equal, direct, secret and free suffrage on an alternative basis for a term of 4 years. One and the same person can be a governor for no more than two consecutive terms. They must be a citizen of Moldova over 35 years old and know the Gagauz language. Gagauz People
The Gagauz ( gag, Gagauzlar) are a Turkic people living mostly in southern Moldova ( Gagauzia, Taraclia District, Basarabeasca District) and southwestern Ukraine (Budjak). Gagauz are mostly Eastern Orthodox Christians. The term Gagauz is also often used as a collective naming of Turkic people living in the Balkans, speaking Gagauz language, a language separated from Balkan Gagauz Turkish. Inna Șupac
Inna Șupac (born 9 February 1984) is a Russophone Moldovan politician who served as a member of the Moldovan Parliament in the 20th legislature (2014-2018), representing the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova. She was also a deputy in 3 previous legislatures: April–July 2009, July 2009 – 2010 and 2010–2014. In the parliamentary elections of November 30, 2014, Șupac ranked 23rd in the PCRM list and initially failed to enter parliament, but won her seat on May 11, 2015, after deputy Irina Vlah was elected as mayor of Gagauzia and due to the incompatibility of positions she submitted her mandate as deputy.
