Irene Moss
Irene Kwong Moss (born 1948) is an Australian solicitor and former public servant. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (Government) and a Bachelor of Laws and from Harvard Law School with a Master of Laws, and became a solicitor at the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. Moss was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws by the University of New South Wales. After some time working for the New South Wales anti-discrimination board, she was the Federal Race Discrimination Commissioner for the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission from 1986 to 1994. She was the New South Wales ombudsman from 1995, and from 1999 to 2004 was the Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption. She has been a board member for various organisations, including becoming the chair of the free speech organisation Australia's Right To Know, a coalition of major Australian media organisations in 2007. Solicitor
A solicitor is a legal practitioner who traditionally deals with most of the legal matters in some jurisdictions. A person must have legally-defined qualifications, which vary from one jurisdiction to another, to be described as a solicitor and enabled to practise there as such. For example, in England and Wales a solicitor is admitted to practise under the provisions of the Solicitors Act 1974. Independent Commission Against Corruption (New South Wales)
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is an agency of the Government of New South Wales responsible for eliminating and investigating corrupt activities and enhancing the integrity of the state's public administration. The Commission was established in 1989, pursuant to the , modeled after the ICAC in Hong Kong. It is led by a Chief Commissioner appointed for a fixed five-year term; and two part-time Commissioners. Then-NSW Premier Mike Baird suggested in November 2016 his desire to move from a sole Commissioner to a three-commissioner system, however this was strongly criticised by two former ICAC commissioners as weakening and politicising the organisation, leading to the resignation of then-Commissioner Megan Latham. Allan Edward Moss (born 1949) is an Australian businessman, who was the Managing Director/CEO of Macquarie Group Ltd. Moss retired from Macquarie Group in May 2008 after 31 years, including a 15-year stint as the CEO. Prior to this Moss was a director of Hill Samuel Australia and led the team responsible for preparing the submission to the Australian Government to form Macquarie Bank in 1983. He held various positions within Macquarie Bank before becoming Managing Director/CEO in 1993. He had been a director of the company since 1989.
