FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup
The FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-17 World Championship) is the under-17 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The event was held for the first time in July 2010, and is held biennially. Composition According to the updated FIBA Internal Regulations, the FIBA Under-17 World Cup shall be held every two years (2016, 2018, 2020, etc.). FIBA U16 European Championship
The FIBA U16 European Championship, previously known as the FIBA Europe Championship for Cadets, is a youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year. It serves as the qualification tournament for the FIBA Under-17 World Cup in odd years, for the FIBA Europe region. The current champions are Lithuania. Basketball Ireland (BI; ga, Cispheil Éireann) is the national governing body for the sport on the island of Ireland. Part of FIBA Europe, the European governing body, and of FIBA, the World governing body, BI is responsible for the promotion and administration of basketball throughout Ireland and for Irish international participation. Éanna Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club's senior men's representative team, DBS Éanna, is currently a member of Ireland's top national league, the Super League. The club has an academy for ages 5–9 years and teams from U10–U20 plus teams in the Dublin Men's Basketball League. Tralee Tigers
Tralee Tigers was an Irish basketball team based in Tralee, County Kerry. The team competed in the SuperLeague and were champions in 1995–96, 2003–04 and 2007–08. They also won the Irish National Championship in 2001–02, and won two National Cup titles in 2005 and 2007. The team folded following the 2008–09 season. Tralee Tigers' biggest star was dual Gaelic footballer and basketball player Kieran Donaghy. Donaghy helped Tralee win the 2005 National Cup and was named the player of the year. Templeogue Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club has teams competing in Dublin Leagues and National Competitions, with the senior men's representative team, Griffith College Templeogue, playing in the Irish Super League. History Templeogue Basketball Club was established in 1976 by a group of Past Pupils from Templeogue College. It was not until 2012 that a senior men's team entered one of Ireland's national competitions.
