Iran competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016. Competitors Medalists , width="77%" align="right" valign="top" , , width="23%" align="left" valign="top" , The death of Para-cyclist Iranian Para-cyclist Bahman Golbarnezhad died following an accident during men's C4/C5 road race at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. He was involved in a serious crash on Saturday (17 September) and sustained severe injuries to his neck. The 48-year-old rider received emergency treatment at the scene before being transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Following Golbarnezhad's passing, the Iranian flag has been lowered to half-mast in the Paralympic Village. Volleyball At The 2016 Summer Paralympics
Volleyball at the 2016 Summer Paralympics was held from 9 September to 18 September at the Riocentro Pavilion 6 in Rio de Janeiro. Two sitting volleyball team events were held, one for men and one for women. In the men's sitting event, Bosnia and Herzegovina are the defending champions. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran were the finalists in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012, with Iran winning in 2000 and 2008 and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004 and 2012. The Rio Games will be the fourth time the women's sitting volleyball event will be contested. China are the defending champions, defeating the United States for gold in 2012. Morteza Mehrzadselakjani (born 17 September 1987) is an Iranian volleyball player who plays in the national sitting volleyball team of and Mes Shahr Babak. With a height of 247 cm, he is known as the tallest living man in Iran and the second tallest living man in the world. Shooting At The 2016 Summer Paralympics – Women's 10 Metre Air Pistol SH1
The Women's 10 metre air pistol SH1 event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics took place on 9 September at the Olympic Shooting Centre in Rio. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 40 shots with an air rifle at 10 metres distance from the "standing" (interpreted to include seated in wheelchairs) position. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top 8 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired an additional 10 shots. These shots scored in increments of .1, with a maximum score of 10.9. The total score from all 50 shots were used to determine the final ranking. Sareh Javanmardi
Sareh Javanmardi ( fa, , born 5 December 1984) is an Iranian Paralympic shooter from Shiraz, Iran. Also known as Sareh Javanmardidodmani or Sareh Javanmardi Dodmani, she is the first ever female gold medalist from Iran to win in the shooting category of the Paralympics Games. Career In 2012 Paralympic Games held in London, she won a bronze medal in P2 (10m air pistol SH1). Later in 2014, she was chosen as the best Asian female athlete with impairments by the Asian Paralympic Committee. Siamand Rahman
Siamand Rahman ( fa, سیامند رحمان; 21 March 1988 – 1 March 2020) was an Iranian Paralympic powerlifter. He won gold medals at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio and the 2010 Asian Para Games in Guangzhou. He is the current IPC Powerlifting World Record holder in the +107 kg category with a bench press and also holds the junior world record with and the Paralympic Championship Record with .
