Iraida Vinogradova
Iraida Vladimirovna Vinogradova (née Matryokhina, russian: Ираида Владимировна Виноградова née Матрёхина, 10 March 1936 Chalmny-Varre, Murmansk Okrug, USSR — 31 December 2004 Russia) was a Soviet and Russian Sámi poet who wrote in both Kildin and Ter Sámi, singer of Sámi songs, a scholar of the Ter Sámi language, and a member of the Kola Sámi Association ( sjd, Куэлнэгк Соаме Э̄хтнэгк, russian: Ассоциация кольских саамов). Kildin Sámi
Kildin Sámi (also sometimes known as ''Kola Sámi'', ''Eastern Sámi'', and ''Lappish'', though all of these are ambiguous) is a Sámi language spoken on the Kola Peninsula of northwestern Russia that today is and historically was inhabited by this group. The Sámi languages closest to Kildin are Ter Sámi and Akkala Sámi, in Soviet tradition sometimes considered to be dialects of Kildin Sámi. From a strictly geographical point of view, only Kildin and Ter, spoken on the Peninsula, could be regarded as Kola Sámi. It is the largest of the Eastern Sámi languages by number of speakers. Its future, however, appears to be not as bright as that of Skolt Sámi or Inari Sámi because the language is used actively by only very few people today. The Saami Council Literature Prize (, and ) is a literary prize for Saami literature first awarded by the Saami Council in 1994. Elvira Abramovna Galkina () also known as Elya Galkina (born December 4, 1965, Lovozero, Murmansk, Soviet Union) is a Kildin Sami, Kildin Sámi poet, author, and musician. Early life and education Elvira Abramovna Vasiljeva was born on December 4, 1965 in the town of Lovozero, Murmansk, Soviet Union to a Kildin Sámi mother, Galina Gerasimovna Danilova, and a Russian father, Abram Vasilyevich Vasilyev. She spent her childhood with her maternal grandparents in the former village of Motka in Lovozero District until she went to school. From 1973 to 1983 she studied at the school in Lovozero. From 1983 to 1987, she studied at the Institute of the Peoples of the North at the Herzen University, A. I. Herzen Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute. After graduating in 1987, she returned to Lovozero and worked as a teacher in a secondary school for a year, after which she switched to the Lovozero Cultural Center where she has been ever since. Olenegorsk (russian: Оленего́рск, lit. ''reindeer mountain'') is a town in Murmansk Oblast, Russia, located north of the Arctic Circle, south of Murmansk. Population: 25,166 ( 2002 Census); History The railway station of Olenya () was opened in 1916, with the construction of the Murman Railway. The station facilities, and the small settlement associated with the station were located to the east of the railroad. Their importance was somewhat increased in the 1930s, as Olenya became a junction for the railway branch to the newly built town of Monchegorsk some to the southwest.
