Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan
Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan ( bn, ইকবাল করিম ভূঁইয়া; born 2 June 1957) was a Bangladeshi general who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army. He took office at 25 June 2012 and retired on 25 June 2015. He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on 19 March 1976 and was commissioned on 30 November 1976 in the Corps of Infantry (East Bengal Regiment). Iqbal had a diversified and fine mix of all three types of appointment available in Army. During 39 years in Bangladesh Army, He commanded three Infantry Battalions, an Infantry Brigade and three Infantry Divisions. He also served as Chief of General Staff, Colonel Staff of Bangladesh Army, and Platoon Commander of Military Academy.He also participated in Operation Desert Storm and received Liberation of Kuwait Medal. General ( bn, জেনারেল, Jēnārēla) is a four Star commissioned flag officer rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the highest achieved rank in the Bangladesh Army. General ranks above the Three Star rank of Lieutenant general. The rank is denoted as a full-fledged General to extricate subordinate officers like Lieutenant general and Major general. The United States Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC or, obsolete, USACGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, is a graduate school for United States Army and sister service officers, interagency representatives, and international military officers. Savar Cantonment ( bn, সাভার সেনানিবাস) is a cantonment located in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The 9th infantry division of Bangladesh Army is garrisoned there. The United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) was a United Nations peacekeeping operation in Sierra Leone from 1999 to 2006.
