Iqbal (movie)
''Iqbal'' is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age sports drama film written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. Produced by Subhash Ghai, under "Mukta Searchlight Films", the story follows a cricket-obsessed deaf and mute boy from a remote Indian village as he aims to overcomes difficulties to become a cricketer and fulfill his dream of playing for the Indian national cricket team. The film received the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. The film was screened retrospective on 18 August 2016 at the ''Independence Day Film Festival'' jointly presented by the Indian Directorate of Film Festivals and Ministry of Defense, commemorating 70th Indian Independence Day. Nagesh Kukunoor
Nagesh Kukunoor (born 30 March 1967) is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter and actor known for his works predominantly in Hindi cinema, and few Telugu language films. He is known for his works in parallel cinema, such as ''Hyderabad Blues'' (1998), '' Rockford'' (1999), ''Iqbal'' (2005), '' Dor'' (2006), ''Aashayein'' (2010), ''Lakshmi'' (2014), and ''Dhanak'' (2016). Kukunoor has received seven International Awards, and two National Film Awards for his works. In 2003, he directed '' 3 Deewarein'', which was showcased among the Indian panorama section, at the 2003 International Film Festival of India. Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj (Pronunciation: əpiːl deːʋ born 6 January 1959) is an Indian former cricketer. The Ranji Trophy (also known as Mastercard Ranji Trophy for sponsorship reasons) is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between multiple teams representing regional and state cricket associations. The Andhra cricket team is an Indian domestic cricket team representing the South India state of Andhra Pradesh. The team's main home ground is Dr. Y. S.
