Iowa 107
Iowa Highway 107 (Iowa 107) was a state highway in north central Iowa. It began south of Alexander at an intersection with Iowa 3 and ended at U.S. Route 18 (US 18) in Clear Lake. The highway was designated in 1920 as a spur route connecting Thornton to US 18, then Primary Road No. 19 (PR No. 19). After Interstate 35 (I-35) was completed through northern Iowa, Iowa 107's role in the primary highway system began to diminish. Portions of the route were removed from the system altogether. In 2003, the majority of the route was turned over to Franklin and Cerro Gordo counties. The only remaining segments were and in length, each segment wholly within the city limits of Meservey and Thornton. After it was discovered that the two segments were still being maintained by the Iowa Department of Transportation, the two communities were asked to accept jurisdiction of the segments. Clear Lake, Iowa
Clear Lake is a city in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, United States. The population was 7,687 at the 2020 census. The city is named for the large lake on which it is located. It is the home of a number of marinas, state parks and tourism-related businesses. Clear Lake is also a major stop on Interstate 35 with many restaurants, hotels and truck stops. History The region around the lake that would later be called Clear Lake was a summer home to the Dakota and Winnebago American Indians. Cerro Gordo County (; ) is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 43,127. Its county seat is Mason City. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road. Interstate 35 (Iowa)
Interstate 35 (I-35) is a north–south Interstate Highway in the United States that runs from Laredo, Texas, to Duluth, Minnesota. In Iowa, the highway runs from south to north through the center of the state, roughly parallel to U.S. Highway 69 (US 69) and US 65. It enters the state near Lamoni from Missouri and continues north through the southern Iowa drift plain.
