Ioannis Fountoulis
Ioannis Fountoulis (also Giannis, el, Γιάννης Φουντούλης; born 25 May 1988) is a Greek people, Greek water polo player. He is currently the captain of Greece men's national water polo team, with whom he won a Water polo at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships – Men's tournament, bronze medal at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships, 2015 World Championships, a bronze medal at the 2016 FINA Men's Water Polo World League, 2016 World League , 2020 FINA Men's Water Polo World League, 2020 World League and competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, 2016 Olympics. He played for the Greek powerhouse Olympiacos Water Polo Club, Olympiacos since 2009, and in 2018 he won the 2017–18 LEN Champions League with the Greek giants, scoring 4 goals in the final game against Pro Recco in Genoa. 2020 FINA Men's Water Polo World League
The 2020 FINA Men's Water Polo World League was the 19th edition of the annual men's international water polo tournament. It was played between November 2019 and July 2021 and open to all men's water polo national teams. After participating in a preliminary round, eight teams qualified to play in a final tournament, called the Super Final, originally scheduled from 23 to 28 June 2020. The tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2020, it was announced that it would be played in from January to July 2021. Montenegro won their third overall title, after defeating the United States in the final. In the world league, there are specific rules that do not allow matches to end in a draw. If teams are level at the end of the 4th quarter of any world league match, the match will be decided by a penalty shootout. 2018 Men's European Water Polo Championship
The 2018 Men's European Water Polo Championship was held in Barcelona, Spain from 16 to 28 July 2018. Serbia won their fourth consecutive and eighth overall title by defeating Spain in the final. Qualification Sixteen teams will be allowed to the tournament. The men's water polo tournament at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, organised by the FINA, was held in Budapest, Hungary from 17 to 29 July 2017. Croatia captured their second title by defeating host Hungary 8–6 in the final match. Bronze was secured by Serbia who beat Greece 11–8. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal.
