Skid Row (American Band)
Skid Row is an American rock band formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. Their current lineup comprises bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave Sabo and Scotti Hill, drummer Rob Hammersmith and vocalist Erik Grönwall. The group achieved commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with its first two albums ''Skid Row'' (1989) and ''Slave to the Grind'' (1991) certified multi-platinum, the latter of which reached number one on the ''Billboard'' 200. Those two albums also produced some of Skid Row's most popular hits, both in and outside of the United States, including "18 and Life" and " I Remember You", which peaked in the top 10 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and other charting singles such as "Youth Gone Wild", " Monkey Business", "Slave to the Grind", " Wasted Time", and "In a Darkened Room". The band's third album '' Subhuman Race'' (1995) was also critically acclaimed, but failed to repeat the success of its predecessors. Those three albums featured the band's "cl ...

Mainstream Rock Tracks
Mainstream Rock is a music chart in ''Billboard'' magazine that ranks the most-played songs on mainstream rock radio stations in the United States, a category that combines the formats of active rock and heritage rock. The chart was launched in March 1981 as Rock Albums & Top Tracks, after which the name changed first to Top Rock Tracks, then to Album Rock Tracks, and finally to its current Mainstream Rock in 1996. History The Rock Albums & Top Tracks charts were introduced in the March 21, 1981, issue of ''Billboard''.Joel Whitburn. ''Joel Whitburn Presents Rock Tracks 1981–2008.'' Hal Leonard Corporation, 2008p. 6. The 50- and 60-position charts ranked airplay on album rock radio stations in the United States. Because album-oriented rock stations focused on playing tracks from albums rather than specifically released singles, these charts were designed to measure the airplay of any and all tracks from an album. Songs Written By Rachel Bolan
A song is a musical composition intended to be performed by the human voice. This is often done at distinct and fixed pitches (melodies) using patterns of sound and silence. Songs contain various forms, such as those including the repetition and variation of sections. Written words created specifically for music, or for which music is specifically created, are called lyrics. If a pre-existing poem is set to composed music in classical music it is an art song. Songs that are sung on repeated pitches without distinct contours and patterns that rise and fall are called chants. Songs composed in a simple style that are learned informally "by ear" are often referred to as folk songs. Songs that are composed for professional singers who sell their recordings or live shows to the mass market are called popular songs. These songs, which have broad appeal, are often composed by professional songwriters, composers, and lyricists. Art songs are composed by trained classical composers fo ...

Skid Row (American Band) Songs
A skid row or skid road is an impoverished area, typically urban, in English-speaking North America whose inhabitants are mostly poor people " on the skids". This specifically refers to poor or homeless, considered disreputable, downtrodden or forgotten by society. A skid row may be anything from an impoverished urban district to a red-light district to a gathering area for homeless people and drug addicts. In general, ''skid row'' areas are inhabited or frequented by impoverished individuals and also drug addicts. Urban areas considered skid rows are marked by high vagrancy, dilapidated buildings, and drug dens, as well as other features of urban blight. Used figuratively, the phrase may indicate the state of a poor person's life. The term ''skid road'' originally referred to the path along which timber workers skidded logs. Its current sense appears to have originated in the Pacific Northwest. Areas in the United States and Canada identified by this nickname include Pioneer S ...

My Enemy (Skid Row Song)
''Subhuman Race'' (stylized ''sUBHUMAN rACE'') is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on March 28, 1995, by Atlantic Records. This is the last Skid Row album with singer Sebastian Bach and drummer Rob Affuso, and the last one to be released on Atlantic. Despite receiving positive reviews, ''Subhuman Race'' was not as successful as the band's first two albums. Certain tracks from the album were remixed for the band's compilation '' 40 Seasons: The Best of Skid Row'', given more tender, slightly cleaner mixes to fit better with the other tracks. Overview Released during the decline of hard rock and heavy metal, ''Subhuman Race'' marked a significant change in the band's sound, with Bob Rock replacing Michael Wagener as its producer, and resembling a mixture of heavy metal with grunge, alternative, punk rock, thrash metal and groove metal influences. It has also been noted as more of a dark album than previous works. To promote ''Subhuman Race' ...

Septuple Meter
Septuple meter (British: metre) or (chiefly British) septuple time is a meter with each bar (American: measure) divided into 7 notes of equal duration, usually or (or in compound meter, time). The stress pattern can be , , or occasionally , although a survey of certain forms of mostly American popular music suggests that is the most common among these three in these styles. A time signature of , however, does not necessarily mean that the bar is a compound septuple meter with seven beats, each divided into three. This signature may, for example, be used to indicate a bar of triple meter in which each beat is subdivided into seven parts. In this case, the meter is sometimes characterized as "triple septuple time". It is also possible for a time signature to be used for an irregular, or "additive" metrical pattern, such as groupings of eighth notes. Septuple meter can also be notated by using regularly ''alternating'' bars of triple and duple or quadruple meters, for examp ...

The Best Of Skid Row
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pron ...
