The International Piano Academy Lake Como is a piano academy. Administration *President of Honor: Martha Argerich *President and Artistic Director: William Grant Naboré *Vice President: Stanislav Ioudenitch Location and facility The majestic Palazzo del Vescovo (Palace of the Bishop) was erected by the family of the Marquis Cossoni in the 17th century. In 1854 Carlo Romanò, the Bishop of Como, acquired the building from the heirs of the family Cossoni. In 1983 the Town of Dongo purchased the building, and with the financial help of the Comunità Montana Alto Lario Occidentale, the citizens of Dongo embarked on a complete restoration of the Palazzo. Today the building, which still retains its former name, houses the Civic Institute of Music "Alto Lario" and, since December 2003, the International Piano Academy Lake Como. Martha Argerich (; Eastern Catalan: ɾʒəˈɾik born 5 June 1941) is an Argentine classical concert pianist. She is widely considered to be one of the greatest pianists of all time. Early life and education Argerich was born in Buenos Aires. Her paternal ancestors were Spaniards from Catalonia who had been based in Buenos Aires since the 18th century. Her maternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire, who settled in Colonia Villa Clara in Argentina's Entre Ríos Province, one of the colonies established by Baron de Hirsch and the Jewish Colonization Association. Martin Helmchen
Martin Helmchen (born 1982) is a German pianist. He has played with international orchestras and has recorded discs of many classical composers. Life Helmchen was born in Berlin. He began his piano studies at the age of six, and graduated from the Hanns Eisler Music Conservatory as a student of Galina Iwanzowa, and in 2001 from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover as a student of Arie Vardi. Career He was a featured soloist in the BBC New Generation Artists program from 2005 to 2007. Helmchen has given concerts with the San Francisco Symphony, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Deutschen Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Shiran Wang (王詩然; born December 15, 1989, in Nanjing) is a Chinese pianist who has performed internationally. Wang started to play the piano at the age of four and a half, when she was 11 years old she began studying the piano in Beijing, China with Professor Aiping Jin in the Middle School at the Central Conservatory of Music. Yevgeny Olegovich Sudbin (russian: Евгений Олегович Судьбин; born 19 April 1980) is a Russian-born British concert pianist. He studied at the musical school of the Leningrad Conservatory. After his family emigrated to Berlin when he was age 10 in 1990, he won several German piano competitions, and studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.
