International Islamic Unity Conference (Iran)
The International Islamic Unity Conference is an international conference which is held every year during the Islamic Unity week in Tehran, Iran, and is organized by “the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought”. The main target of the conference is devising the ways of unity for Islamic world, and likewise sympathy/consultation between scholars and scientists in order to approach their viewpoints in intended fields. The subjects of its meetings are determined based on divergent issues/problems of Islamic world. The meeting is kicked off with the attendance of many scholars, religious thinkers and prominent figures from diverse countries. The World Forum For Proximity Of Islamic Schools Of Thought
The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) as well as Tehran's Ecumenical Society ( fa, مجمع جهانی تقریب مذاهب اسلامی) is a forum that was established on October 1990 by order of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in Tehran for the reconciliation between different Islamic schools and branches. Background of the establishment According to upper, many Islamic Scholars in the different schools tried to achieve proximity and finally unity. In the first step, the Iranian scholar, Sheikh Mohamad Taqi Qomi, emigrated to Egypt in the mid-twentieth century. He established a forum in Cairo that was named jam'iyyat al-tagrib bayn al-madhahib al-islamiyya ( ar, دارالتقریب بین المذاهب الاسلامیة بالقاهره)in 1948. Islamic Unity Week
Islamic unity week (Persian: هفته وحدت اسلامی) refers to a ceremony held every year both by Sunnis and Shia. The event is held between two dates of the birthday of prophet Muhammad. One of the dates is narrated by Sunnis and the other narrated by Shia. History The previous record of the Islamic unity week is related to the time when Seyyed Ali Khamenei was in Sistan and Baluchestan; and this Shia cleric/scholar (with the co-operation of some Sunni scholars) decided to hold this unity week, and they celebrated these days (Islamic unity week) to show the unity between Shia-Sunni. Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei ( fa, سید علی حسینی خامنهای, ; born 19 April 1939) is a Twelver Shia ''marja''' and the second and current Supreme Leader of Iran, in office since 1989. He was previously the third president of Iran from 1981 to 1989.
