The Interlake Pharmacy Classic was an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that took place at the Stonewall Curling Club in Stonewall, Manitoba. The tournament was held in a modified double-knockout format. The tournament, started in 2004 as part of the World Curling Tour The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. A bonspiel is a curling tournament, consisting of several games, often held on a weekend. Until the 20th century most bonspiels were held outdoors, on a frozen freshwater loch. Today almost all bonspiels are held indoors on specially prepared artificial ice. Jill Thurston
Jill Thurston (born December 2, 1971) is a Canadian curler. She skipped her own team out of the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Career Juniors Thurston would represent Manitoba at the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Her team consisting of Jennifer Jones, Kristie Moroz and Kelly MacKenzie would finish first place in round robin play, with a 10-1 finish. The team would get a bye into the final, however they would end up losing to New Brunswick's Heather Smith. 1997–2007 Thurston was a participant at the 1997 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, which was won by Sandra Schmirler. She would make her first Scott Tournament of Hearts appearance was in 1999, playing as the alternate for Connie Laliberte. The team finished first place in round robin, with an 8-3 record. Chelsea Danielle Carey (born September 12, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is the 2016 and 2019 Canadian and Alberta women's champion skip and 2014 Manitoba provincial women's champion skip. Career Earlier career Carey curled in six provincial junior championships, but did not win the event. She did win the 2000 Juvenile Provincial championship which she followed up with a silver medal at the 2001 Canadian Juvenile championship. She was also the Manitoba high school provincial champion in 2002. Barbara Spencer (born Barbara Jay Kirkness, February 14, 1966) is a Canadian curler from Sanford, Manitoba. Spencer is a former Canadian Junior champion and a three-time provincial champion. Career Spencer had a successful junior career, playing third for her sister, Darcy's team. The team won the 1984 Canadian Junior Curling Championships for Manitoba. Two years later, Spencer won the provincial mixed championship, playing third for Hal Tanasichuk. Spencer won her first provincial women's title, playing third for her sister, Darcy. Janet Harvey (born March 28, 1967 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler. In 1984, Harvey played second for Darcy Kirkness at that year's Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
