Innovative Leisure Records
Innovative Leisure is a Los Angeles-based record label founded in 2010 by Nate Nelson, Jamie Strong, and Hanni El Khatib. Its genre-spanning roster is anchored by artists including BADBADNOTGOOD, Classixx, De Lux, Hanni El Khatib, Nick Waterhouse, and Tijuana Panthers. Notable alumni include garage rock bands Allah-Las, Bass Drum of Death, and The Buttertones, Thai psych rock ensemble Khun Narin, and producers Nosaj Thing and Jim-E Stack. History Innovative Leisure was founded in early 2010 by Nate Nelson and Jamie Strong, formerly of Stones Throw Records, in partnership with musician and former Creative Director of HUF Hanni El Khatib. At first a side project of Nelson and Strong, the label's first releases were physical singles by artists including Mexicans with Guns and Freddie Gibbs, followed by albums by Lazer Sword and Hanni El Khatib. Redeye Distribution, is an American independent record label based in Hillsborough, North Carolina, United States. It was founded in 1996 by Tor Hansen, Kim Hansen, Glenn Dicker. The label focuses on independent music. __NOTOC__ Crystal Antlers is an American band from Long Beach, California. History Origins The band started in late 2006 in Long Beach, California, as a 3-piece, Kevin Stuart (drums), Errol Davis (guitar) and Jonny Bell (bass/vocals). The three had met in high school music class and later worked together as chimney sweeps. Their first single was recorded at Closer Studio in San Francisco; "Parting Song For The Torn Sky" was later re-mixed for the band's first EP. After the first single was recorded, Victor Rodriguez-Guerrero joined the band on organ. In 2007, Damian Edwards joined on percussion. BadBadNotGood (stylized in all caps) is a Canadian instrumental band and production team from Toronto, Canada. The group was founded in 2010 by bassist Chester Hansen, keyboardist Matthew Tavares, and drummer Alexander Sowinski. In 2016, they were joined by frequent collaborator Leland Whitty. The album was released worldwide on March 1, 2013 by Polydor Records, except in North America where it was released on March 5 through Loma Vista Recordings, Innovative Leisure, and Republic Records. Rhye
Rhye is an R&B musical project of Canadian singer Mike Milosh. It originally consisted of him and Danish instrumentalist Robin Hannibal. They released the singles "Open" and "The Fall" online without much detail, which led to speculation about the band. Their debut album, ''Woman'', was released on March 4, 2013. In June 2013, the album was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. In 2017, it was reported that Robin Hannibal was no longer a member of Rhye and that the project had evolved into a music collective led by Milosh and focused around the associated live band. Fredrick Jamel Tipton (born June 14, 1982), better known by his stage name Freddie Gibbs, is an American rapper from Gary, Indiana. After initially being signed to Interscope Records in 2006, Gibbs recorded his debut studio album under the label. However, he was eventually dropped and the album was cancelled. Under the direction of founder Peanut Butter Wolf, Stones Throw has released music ranging from hip hop to experimental psychedelic rock. Khun Narin
Khun Narin is a psychedelic music ensemble based out of the Phetchabun Province in Thailand. Led by Khun Narin, the group is known locally for their impromptu improvisational performances situated at backyard parties and parades. The group comprises a constantly rotating line-up of native musicians of varying ages, from children to elderly men. Khun Narin were discovered via YouTube when music producer Josh Marcy happened upon videos of their live performances.
