Originally called Ingestre it was actually much closer to Weston and was renamed (also Ingestre ''for'' Weston) in 1870 to avoid confusion with Weston and Ingestre on the North Staffordshire Railway. The Stafford and Uttoxeter Railway was purchased for £100,000 by the Great Northern Railway in July 1881 and the line subsequently passed into LNER ownership with Railway Grouping in 1923. Chartley railway station was a former British railway station to serve the village of Stowe-by-Chartley in Staffordshire. It was opened by the Stafford and Uttoxeter Railway in 1867. The North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) was a British railway company formed in 1845 to promote a number of lines in the Staffordshire Potteries and surrounding areas in Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire. Ingestre is a village and civil parish in the Stafford district, in the county of Staffordshire, England. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 194. It is four miles to the north-east of the county town of Stafford. Ingestre Hall is a local landmark. It was formerly served by both Weston and Ingestre railway station and Ingestre railway station.
