Inger And Johannes Exner
Inger Augusta Exner, Hon. FAIA (born 20 August 1926, Randers) and Johannes Exner, Hon. FAIA (born 25 March 1926, Hald near Randers; died 16 May 2015) were a Danish couple who cooperated closely as architects. They met at high school and studied architecture together at the Danish Academy where they graduated in 1954. They married in 1952. In 1958, they opened their own firm, specializing in the construction of churches and in restoration work. Completed projects include Præstebro Church, in Herlev (1966–69), Nørrelandskirke, Holstebro (1967–69), Islev Church, Rødovre (1968–69), Gug Church, Aalborg (1973) and Sædden Church, Esbjerg (1978). Their restoration work included Copenhagen's Rundetårn and Trinity Church (1981–83) as well as the castle of Koldinghus (1972–92) earning them the Europa Nostra award in 1994. Ter Apel Monastery
Ter Apel Monastery ( nl, Klooster Ter Apel) is a former monastery in the village of Ter Apel in the northeastern Dutch province of Groningen. It is the only monastery in the larger area of Friesland and Groningen that survived the Reformation in a decent condition, and the only remaining rural monastery from the Middle Ages in the Netherlands. The convent buildings house a museum for monastery and church history and for religious art, as well as two contemporary art galleries. The former lay church of the monastery still functions as a reformed church. The monastery is located in the extreme southeast of the province of Groningen on a forested sand ridge along the ancient trade route from Münster to Groningen. The Nykredit Architecture Prize is the largest Danish architecture prize. Founded by the Nykredit Foundation (an arm of the Nykredit Group), it is awarded annually to a person, or group of people, who have personally, or through their work, made a significant contribution to the building industry in the form of architecture or planning, etc. The recipient receives DKK 500,000, making it one of the largest architecture prizes in the world in terms of prize money.
