Megasthenes' Indica
''Indika'' (Greek: Ἰνδικά; Latin: ''Indica'') is an account of Mauryan India by the Greek writer Megasthenes. The original work is now lost, but its fragments have survived in later Greek and Latin works. The earliest of these works are those by Diodorus Siculus, Strabo ('' Geographica''), Pliny, and Arrian ('' Indica''). Reconstruction Megasthenes' ''Indica'' can be reconstructed using the portions preserved by later writers as direct quotations or paraphrase. The parts that belonged to the original text can be identified from the later works based on similar content, vocabulary and phrasing, even when the content has not been explicitly attributed to Megasthenes. Felix Jacoby's ''Fragmente der griechischen Historiker'' contains 36 pages of content traced to Megasthenes. E. A. Indika Gunawardena ( si, ඉන්දික ගුණවර්ධන; 8 February 1943 – 14 September 2015) was a Sri Lankan politician. Indika Gunawardena was born on 8 February 1943, the son of Philip Gunawardena and Kusumasiri née Amarasinghe. His brothers included Prasanna Gunawardena former mayor of Colombo, Lakmali Gunawardena state award winner of literature, Dinesh Gunawardena cabinet minister, and Gitanjana Gunawardena former minister. Gunawardena was educated at the Royal College, Colombo. He was first elected to parliament at the 1994 Sri Lankan parliamentary elections representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the Colombo electorate. Indika Chathuranga D. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage ( si, ඉන්ඩිකා සි. ධි. දිස්සානායක මුදියන්සේලාගේ, born 6 August 1989), also known as Indika Dissanayake, is a Sri Lankan male weightlifter. He competed in the 69 kg division at the Asian Games (in 2010 and 2018), South Asian Games (in 2016) and at the Commonwealth Games (in 2010, 2014 and 2018), and won silver medals at the 2016 South Asian Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Biography Indika was born on 6 August 1989 in Hataraliyadda, Central Province of Sri Lanka.
