IndigenousX is an Australian Aboriginal owned and operated independent media company founded in 2012 by Gamilaroi man Luke Pearson. History and description IndigenousX began as a rotating Twitter account showcasing diverse Indigenous Australian experiences and perspectives. Kath Viner, then head of Australian digital operations of '' Guardian Australia'', approached IndigenousX with an opportunity to collaborate with ''The Guardian''. Aboriginal Australians are the various Indigenous peoples of the Australian mainland and many of its islands, such as Tasmania, Fraser Island, Hinchinbrook Island, the Tiwi Islands, and Groote Eylandt, but excluding the Torres Strait Islands. Australian Aboriginal culture includes a number of practices and ceremonies centered on a belief in the Dreamtime and other mythology. Reverence and respect for the land and oral traditions are emphasised. Over 300 languages and other groupings have developed a wide range of individual cultures. Due the colonization of Australia under terra nullius concept these cultures were treated as one monoculture. First Nations (french: Premières Nations) is a term used to identify those Indigenous Canadian peoples who are neither Inuit nor Métis. Miranda Tapsell (born 11 December 1987) is an Aboriginal Australian actress of both stage and screen, best known for her role as Cynthia in the Wayne Blair film '' The Sapphires'' and her 2015 performance as Martha Tennant in the Nine Network drama series '' Love Child''. In 2016, she portrayed Fatima in the Stan series '' Wolf Creek''. Early life Tapsell was born in Darwin, Northern Territory, on 11 December 1987 to Tony and Barbara Tapsell.
