Indiana State Road 827
State Road 827 (SR 827) is a northeast–southwest State Road located in Steuben County, Indiana, United States, in the northeastern part of the state. The highway runs from the City of Angola northeast to SR 120 in Fremont. The highway was formed in the 1930s, as an alternative for traffic between Toledo, Ohio and Angola. A section of roadway was authorized as SR 827, but later became part of SR 120. A small realignment project was completed in Angola during the 2000s. Route description SR 827 starts in Angola at the corner of Wayne Street ( SR 127) and Harcourt Road. It follows Harcourt Road east-southeasterly, over Indiana Northeastern Railroad track, until it reaches Williams Street. The highway follows Williams Street northeasterly until it leaves the City of Angola, where the Williams Street name ends. Angola is a city in Pleasant Township, Steuben County, Indiana, United States. The population was 8,612 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Steuben County. Angola was founded by Thomas Gale and Cornelius Gilmore on June 28, 1838, and is home to Trine University. The town is served by I-69 and the Indiana Toll Road (I-80 and I-90). History The Angola post office has been in operation since 1838. Some of the first settlers came from Angola, New York, and they named their new home after their old one. Ray is an unincorporated community in both Steuben County, Indiana and Branch County, Michigan in the United States. Fremont, Indiana
Fremont is a town in Fremont Township, Steuben County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 2,138 at the 2010 census. History Fremont was first settled in 1834 under the name Willow Prairie. It became the Village of Brockville when it was platted in 1837. In 1848, it was renamed to honor John C. Frémont, "the Great Pathfinder", in part because there was already a Brockville in Indiana. A post office was established under the name Brockville in 1837, and was renamed to Fremont in 1848. The Indiana Northeastern Railroad is a Class III short line freight railroad operating on nearly in southern lower Michigan, northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
