Indiana Kick
The New York Kick was a professional indoor soccer team based in Albany, New York playing at the Knickerbocker Arena and competed in the National Professional Soccer League (1984–2001). The team was previously known as the Indiana Kick in 1989–90. The Indiana Kick played their games at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Kick were created under the ownership of Kent Phillips after the Fort Wayne Flames folded following the 1988–89 season. Indoor Soccer
Indoor soccer or arena soccer (known internationally as indoor football, fast football, or showball) is five-a-side version of minifootball, derived from association football and adapted to be played in walled hardcourt indoor arena. Indoor soccer, as it is most often known in the United States and Canada, was originally developed in these two countries as a way to play soccer during the winter months, when snow would make outdoor play difficult. In those countries, gymnasiums are adapted for indoor soccer play. 1989–90 American Indoor Soccer Association Season
The 1989–90 American Indoor Soccer Association season was the sixth season for the league. Before the season, Atlanta was added, Ft. Wayne changed their name to Indiana, and Memphis changed their nickname to the Rogues. After the season, Indiana moved to Albany, New York. Because of mounting debt, on June 23, 1990, the AISA expelled Memphis from the league and repudiated its line of credit. After the season, the league also changed its name to the National Professional Soccer League. Warren Lipka
Warren Lipka is an American retired soccer goalkeeper who formerly coached the University of Kentucky and Morehead State University women's soccer teams. Youth and college Lipka attended Lindbergh High School. After graduation, he attended the University of South Carolina where he played as a goalkeeper on the men's soccer team. He spent his first two seasons as a backup to Glen Thompson. Once he earned the starting spot in 1984, he rewarded his team with a .36 GAA. He followed that in 1985 with a .75 GAA as South Carolina went to the third round of the NCAA tournament where it lost to Davidson. That year he was named the ISAA Goalkeeper of the Year. He finished his career at South Carolina with 13 shutouts, tied with Charles Arndt, for the Gamecocks’ record. He graduated from South Carolina in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management.
