1989–90 American Indoor Soccer Association Season
The 1989–90 American Indoor Soccer Association season was the sixth season for the league. Before the season, Atlanta was added, Ft. Wayne changed their name to Indiana, and Memphis changed their nickname to the Rogues. After the season, Indiana moved to Albany, New York. Because of mounting debt, on June 23, 1990, the AISA expelled Memphis from the league and repudiated its line of credit. After the season, the league also changed its name to the National Professional Soccer League. John Dolinsky
John Dolinsky is a retired German-American soccer player who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League, United Soccer League and American Indoor Soccer Association. He also coached in the American Indoor Soccer Association where he was the 1989 Coach of the Year. Player College Born in West Germany, Dolinsky grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Lewis University where from 1972 to 1975 he was a four year starter on the men's soccer team. He was a 1973 and 1974 Honorable Mention (third team) All American. He finished his collegiate career with 51 goals and 32 assists. Lewis University inducted Dolinsky into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985. Marcelo Carrera
Marcelo Carrera (born 1 October 1962) is an Argentine retired footballer who played both indoor and outdoor soccer in the United States for the nearly a dozen teams. Player Carrera began his professional career when he signed with Once Unidos at the age of fifteen. In 1986, he signed with the New York Express, an expansion team in Major Indoor Soccer League. The Express withdrew from the league after 26 games and folded during the season. He then moved to the Canton Invaders in the American Indoor Soccer Association. He played two seasons with the Invaders. In 1988 played the summer outdoor season with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the American Soccer League. Tony Bono
Anthony "Tony" Bono is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Indoor Soccer Association, National Professional Soccer League and Lone Star Soccer Alliance. Bono graduated from Frankford High School, where he was a 1979 First-Team and 1980 Second-Team All-State soccer player. Bono then attended Drexel University, where he was a 1984 first-team All-American soccer player. In 1985, the Minnesota Strikers of the Major Indoor Soccer League drafted Bono in the third round. In December 1987, the Strikers waived Bono. On January 15, 1988, the Chicago Sting signed Bono to a ten-day contract. The Sting kept Bono on the roster until they folded at the end of the season. George Pastor
George Pastor (born November 23, 1963) is a former U.S. soccer forward who was a prolific indoor soccer goal scorer. He also earned seven caps with the U.S. national team in 1988 and 1989. Indoor career Pastor's reputation rests largely on his highly successful indoor soccer career. In 1986, he signed with the Milwaukee Wave of the American Indoor Soccer Association. Over his five seasons in Milwaukee, he scored a team record 174 goals. In 1991, he moved to the St. Louis Storm of Major Soccer League (MSL) for the 1991–1992 season. The Storm folded at the end of the season. Outdoor career In 1986, Pastor joined the San Jose Earthquakes of the Western Soccer Alliance (WSA). Midfielder
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. Peter Hattrup (born March 31, 1964) is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in Major League Soccer and the USL A-League. Player Youth Hattrup was a four-year starter as a star player for the Seattle Preparatory School boys' soccer team. He graduated in 1982 and entered Seattle Pacific University. Hattrup was a scoring sensation for Seattle Pacific men's NCAA Division II soccer team. In 1985, he set the school record for goals scored in a single season with 26. Vince Beck is a Scottish retired football defender who spent twelve years in the American indoor leagues. Youth Born and raised in Scotland, Beck attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where he played three games during the 1981 season. In 1983, he resumed his collegiate career at Old Dominion where he played until 1985. He completed his undergraduate degree at Old Dominion in 1997. Tim Tyma
Tim Tyma (born December 14, 1960) is a former American soccer forward, coach and referee. Tyma played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League and USISL. Player Youth Tim Tyma, younger brother of John Tyma, graduated from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School where he was member of the 1975 Ohio State High School soccer championship team. Tyma attended Cleveland State University where he played on the men's soccer team in 1979. Professional Tyma left college after his freshman season to turn professional with the Kansas City Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
