Indian River Hundred
Indian River Hundred is a hundred in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Indian River Hundred was formed in 1706 from Lewes & Rehoboth Hundred. Its primary community is now Angola on Delaware Route 24, but maritime transportation dominated during the colonial and early federal era. Thus settlers as early as 1794 built a nearby chapel St. George's (now off Delaware Route 5) to serve their spiritual needs and as a community gathering place. By 1821 they paid to share a pastor with St. Peter's Church in Lewes, Delaware, as well as Old Christ Church (Laurel, Delaware), Prince George's Chapel in Dagsboro, Delaware and St. Pauls' Church in Georgetown, Delaware.Raymond B. Delaware Route 24
Delaware Route 24 (DE 24) is a state highway located in Sussex County, Delaware. The route runs from Maryland Route 348 (MD 348) at the Maryland border east of Sharptown, Maryland, east to an intersection with DE 1 in Midway, between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Along the way, DE 24 passes through Laurel, Millsboro, and Long Neck. DE 24 intersects U.S. Route 13 (US 13) in Laurel, US 113/ DE 20 in Millsboro, and DE 5 and DE 23 in Long Neck. The route runs concurrent with DE 30 between Mission and Millsboro. Rehoboth Beach ( ) is a city on the Atlantic Ocean along the Delaware Beaches in eastern Sussex County, Delaware. Prince George's Chapel
Prince George's Chapel is a historic Episcopal chapel of ease located near Dagsboro, Sussex County, Delaware. It was built in 1755 as a chapel-of-ease for St. Martin's Church, Worcester Parish, Maryland. Churches built to serve the outlying areas of a parish where it was difficult for people to travel to the main church were given a chapel-of-ease designation. On June 30, 1757, the completed chapel was received by the vestry, dedicated, and named "Prince George's Chapel" for England's Prince George, later George III of the United Kingdom. It is a small, shingled structure. A transept and chancel were added about 1763, but these have been removed. Old Christ Church (Laurel, Delaware)
Old Christ Church, also known as Old Lightwood, is a historic Episcopal church near Laurel, Sussex County, Delaware. The 1772 church resembles its parent church, Green Hill Church of Stepney Parish in Wicomico County, Maryland, except that while Stepney was built in brick, Christ Church is of wood construction. Its weathered appearance gave rise to a nickname "Old Lightwood," although it now is painted barn red. Delaware Route 5 (DE 5) is a state highway in Sussex County, Delaware. The route runs from River Road and Oak Orchard Avenue on the Indian River Bay in Oak Orchard north to DE 1, north of Milton. Along the way, DE 5 passes through rural areas along with the communities of Long Neck, Harbeson, and Milton. Angola is an unincorporated community adjacent to the Angola Neck peninsula in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Angola is located on an inlet of Rehoboth Bay and is near Delaware Route 24.
