Indian Creek (New River)
Indian Creek, is a tributary of the New River (Kanawha River), New River, flowing through the state of West Virginia in the United States. Course Indian Creek begins near Union, Monroe County, West Virginia, Union, West Virginia in Monroe County, West Virginia, Monroe County, closely following United States Route 219, West Virginia Route 122, CR-23 and CR-27. Although only being a creek, it is one of Monroe County's main drainage basins. It passes under the Indian Creek Covered Bridge, near Salt Sulphur Springs. After crossing under West Virginia Route 12, it flows over a hole 9–14 feet deep. Then, at about the Summers county line, another hole about this same depth. There are numerous 2–6 feet deep holes in other parts of the creek. Basically all of the waterway in Summers County, West Virginia, Summers County, is public land. Indian Creek Covered Bridge
The Indian Creek Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge near US 219, about 4 miles away from Salt Sulphur Springs, in Monroe County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned by the Monroe County Historical Society, and was originally built in 1898 by Ray and Oscar Weikel. The bridge is 49.25 feet long and 11.5 feet wide. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The bridge was restored by Hoke Brothers Construction, Inc. of Union, West Virginia in 2000 at a cost of $334,446. It is open to pedestrians, and said to be one of the most photographed bridges in West Virginia. United States Route 219
U.S. Route 219 (US 219) is a spur of US 19. It runs for from West Seneca, New York, at an interchange with Interstate 90 (I-90) to Rich Creek, Virginia, intersecting at US 460. US 219 is found (from north to south) in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia. Much of the Route in West Virginia follows the old Indian warpath known as the Seneca Trail (Great Indian Warpath).
