India national baseball team is the national men's team of India in international-level baseball competitions. India has produced two players that have achieved Major League status in the United States: Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel were both been contracted by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in 2009, although Singh has since left the sport. Baseball is played in local clubs, schools and at the university level in India. The India women's national baseball team is a national team of India and is controlled by the Amateur Baseball Federation of India. It represents the nation in women's international competition. The team is a member of the Baseball Federation of Asia. In 2004, India participated in the Women's Baseball World Series. The Asian Baseball Cup is a baseball tournament organized by the Baseball Federation of Asia. The Asian Baseball Cup is a second-level tournament to the Asian Baseball Championship. 1989 Asian Baseball Championship
The Asian Baseball Championship was the fifteenth continental tournament held by the Baseball Federation of Asia. The tournament was held in Seoul, South Korea for the fifth time. The tournament was won by Japan for the ninth time. It was the first time that South Korea had not won an Asian Championship while hosting the tournament. South Korea shared the silver medal with the defending champions Chinese Taipei. This was the third time that the silver medal had been shared; all three times involving Chinese Taipei. Pesäpallo (; sv, boboll, both names literally meaning "nest ball", colloquially known in Finnish as pesis, also referred to as Finnish baseball) is a fast-moving bat-and-ball sport that is often referred to as the national sport of Finland and has some presence in other countries including Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, and Canada's northern Ontario (the latter two countries have significant Nordic populations). The Amateur Baseball Federation of India (ABFI) is the governing body for baseball in India. The ABFI was founded on 11 December 1983 in Rohtak, Haryana, and became a member of the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) and the International Baseball Federation in 1985.
