Independent Group (art Movement)
The Independent Group (IG) met at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London, England, from 1952 to 1955. The IG consisted of painters, sculptors, architects, writers and critics who wanted to challenge prevailing modernist approaches to culture. Independent Group ( tr, Müstakil Grup) was an opposition group in the Turkish parliament between 1939-1946. Backgrounds After the Turkish Republic was proclaimed in 1923 by Atatürk and members of the Republican People's Party (CHP), the CHP became the ruling party up to 1950. This was a one-party regime. During this period two times an opposition party was founded; the Progressive Republican Party (TCF) in 1924 and the Liberal Republican Party (SCF) in 1930. The Independent Group for Change, also known as Change UK, was a British centrist, pro-European Union political party, founded in February 2019 and dissolved ten months later, shortly after all its MPs lost their seats in the 2019 general election. The Independent Parliamentary Group was a right-wing political organisation in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1920 by Horatio Bottomley, elected in the 1918 general election as an independent Member of Parliament. In 1919, Bottomley founded the People's League. He hoped the League would become "a great Third Party" which would represent "the People" against organised labour and organised capital. The 4th Marquess of Salisbury was also initially involved in the League. According to Sir Oswald Mosley, he and Leslie Hore-Belisha were also active members. The Labour Independent Group was an organisation of five former Labour Party (UK), Labour Party Members of Parliament (MPs) in the United Kingdom. In April 1948, the MP John Platts-Mills organised a petition in support of Pietro Nenni and the Italian Socialist Party, who were in alliance with the Italian Communist Party, counter to Labour Party policy.
