Incredible (M-Beat Song)
"Incredible" is a song by jungle producer M-Beat featuring General Levy on vocals. It was first released as a single in 1994 and reached No. 39 on the UK Singles Chart. A re-release a few months later featuring new mixes was much more successful, peaking at No. 8, and remaining on the chart for 12 weeks. "Incredible" was the first jungle track to reach the top 10 in the UK. It was released on Renk Records. General Levy's vocals on "Incredible" were adapted from a song he had previously written, titled "The Wickedest General". "Incredible" uses lyrics from Levy's song "Mad Them" as well as the beat from M-Beat's song "Style". In response to General Levy's remark, following the runaway success of "Incredible", that he was "runnin' jungle", an ad hoc "Committee" of DJs and others influential in the jungle community launched a campaign against the song. M-Beat (born Marlon Hart) is a jungle musician and producer. He scored three top 20 Hit song, hit singles on the UK Singles Chart: "Incredible (M-Beat song), Incredible" (featuring General Levy) at No. 8, "Sweet Love (Anita Baker song), Sweet Love" (a Cover version, cover of the Anita Baker song featuring Nazlyn) at No. 18 (both from 1994), and "Do U Know Where You're Coming From" (featuring Jamiroquai) at No. 12 in 1996. It was formed from the consolidation of three presses: Perseus' Counterpoint Press, Avalon Publishing Group's Shoemaker & Hoard and the independent Soft Skull Press. The enhanced CD was released on 18 March 2002 through Universal Island Records, and consists of a variety of styles of hip hop music. Executively produced by Dan Mazer, Nick Angel and Sacha Baron Cohen, the album features film star Ali G hosting a pirate radio broadcast on his "Drive By FM". The soundtrack peaked at number 29 in New Zealand, at number 33 in Australia, and at number 49 in the Netherlands. Paul Scott Levy (born 28 April 1971), also known as General Levy, is an English ragga deejay, regularly employed on studio tracks by drum and bass DJs. He is best known for the track "Incredible" which he recorded with M-Beat. A remixed version of this reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart in 1994. Biography General Levy was born in Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal, London on 28 April 1971. He is of Trinidadian descent. Levy's formative years were spent in Harlesden and Wembley in the London Borough of Brent in northwest London.
