''In the Name of Love'' is the first Thompson Twins album released in the United States. The album was released in 1982 by Arista Records and comprises eight of the eleven tracks from their second album, '' Set'', plus two of the singles from their debut album, '' A Product of ... (Participation)'' (neither of these albums were released separately in the US at that time). The album was released on the strength of the single "In The Name of Love", which topped the dance music chart in '' Billboard'' magazine, reaching the number one position and staying there for five weeks between 22 May and 19 June 1982. The title track also peaked at number sixty-nine on the soul chart. Thompson Twins
Thompson Twins were a British Pop music, pop band formed in 1977 in Sheffield. Initially a New wave music, new wave group, they switched to a more mainstream pop sound and achieved considerable popularity during the mid-1980s, scoring a string of hits in the United Kingdom, the United States, and around the world. In 1993, they changed their name to Babble (band), Babble, to reflect their change in music from pop to Dub music, dub-influenced Chill-out music, chill-out. They continued as Babble until 1996, at which point the group permanently broke up. The band's name was based on the two bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson (who are close doubles not twins) in the English language version of Hergé's comic strip ''The Adventures of Tintin''.
