Iosif Yefimovich Kheifits ( be, Іосіф Яўхімавіч Хейфіц; – 24 April 1995) was a Soviet film director, winner of two Stalin Prizes (1941, 1946), People's Artist of USSR (1964), Hero of Socialist Labor (1975). Member of the Communist Party of Soviet Union since 1945. Life and career Kheifets was born 17 December 1905 in Minsk. In 1927 he graduated from the Leningrad Technical-screen art, and in 1928 - cinema faculty of Institute of History of Art. In 1928, Iosif Kheifets came to work at the film studio "Sovkino" (now - Lenfilm Studio). In film, he first made his debut as a screenwriter, with Aleksandr Ivanov and Aleksandr Zarkhi he created the scripts for films "Moon on the left" and "Transportation of fire". Maria Pavlovna Chekhova (russian: Мари́я Па́вловна Че́хова) was a Russian teacher, artist, founder of the Chekhov Memorial House museum in Yalta, and a recipient of the Order of the Red Banner of Labour. Anton Chekhov was her brother. Biography Maria Pavlovna Chekhova was born on August 31, 1863 in the city of Taganrog. She entered the Mariinskaya Girls Gymnasium in 1872. After the family's bankruptcy in 1876, she moved with the family to Moscow where she graduated from the Filaretovski Eparkhial School for Women in 1884. From 1886 to 1904 she read lectures on history and geography in Rzhevskaya's private gymnasium for girls. Roman Denisovich Tkachuk (russian: Роман Денисович Ткачук; August 31, 1932 — January 10, 1994) was a Soviet theatre and film actor. Biography He was born on August 31, 1932 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), USSR. He graduated from the Film and Theatre Institute named after Aleksandr Ostrovsky in Tashkent in 1955. In late 1993, Tkachuk's wife, actress Maya Gnezdovskaya became seriously ill. On January 9, 1994 she was taken home from the hospital, and on the night of January 10, she died. The actor outlived her for only a few hours. He was buried with his wife in the Dolgoprudnenskoe (Central) Cemetery. Aleksei Makarovich Smirnov (russian: Алексей Макарович Смирнов; 28 February 1920 in Danilov – 7 May 1979 in Leningrad) was a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor. He performed in more than fifty films between 1959 and 1977. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1976). Early life Aleksei Smirnov was born on 28 February 1920, in the town of Danilov, Yaroslavl Oblast, to the Smirnov family: Makar Stepanovich Smirnov and Anna Ivanovna.
