Imre Széchényi
Count Imre (Emmerich) Széchényi of Sárvár-Felsővidék (15 February 1825, in Vienna – 11 March 1898, in Budapest), was a Hungarian nobleman and landowner, and Austria-Hungary, Austro-Hungarian diplomat and politician. Grandson of Ferenc Széchényi he was Austrian ambassador in Berlin during the government of Otto von Bismarck, Bismarck. He signed for the Austrian emperor Bismarck's Alliance of the Three Emperors 1873, and represented Austria at the Berlin Conference on the Congo 1884.Bascom Barry Hayes. Jochen Kupfer
Jochen Kupfer (born 1969 in Grimma) is a German operatic baritone. Early life and education Kupfer received regular singing lessons from the age of 10, and studied singing with Helga Forner at the Musikhochschule Leipzig. He attended master classes with the likes of Aldo Baldin, Theo Adam and Elio Battaglia, and was taught by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. Career During his studies he was engaged at the Meiningen Court Theatre, Meiningen State Theatre, where he sang such roles as Wolfram von Eschenbach in Richard Wagner's opera ''Tannhäuser (opera), Tannhäuser''. Valéria Csányi
Valéria Csányi (born 2 October 1958) is a Hungarian conductor. She obtained a music teacher and coral conductor diploma in 1982 and a conductor's diploma in 1984 at Liszt Academy of Music. She attended master courses by Karl Österreicher in Vienna, Péter Eötvös in Szombathely and Milan Horvat in Salzburg. Since 1983 she has been a member of the Hungarian State Opera, initially as a répétiteur. During her tutorial work she coached the choir and soloists for almost the complete repertoire of the Opera. She got the opportunity to conduct operas in 1988, with several pieces given to her, and she also conducted premiers. She first conducted a ballet performance in 1995, the Nutcracker, which she has conducted for more than 150 times since then. Csakan
The csakan (or czakan) is a type of woodwind instrument that was popular in Vienna in the early 19th century. A type of duct flute, the csakan was originally crafted in the shape of a walking stick with a mouthpiece in the handle, reflecting the design of similar shepherds' flutes from Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia. From the 1820s, a new design appeared, which was in the shape of an oboe. According to concert announcements from 1810, Anton Heberle was the inventor of the instrument. He was also the first to perform publicly on it, at a concert in Pest on 18 February 1807. Later that year, he also published the first music for the instrument, ''Scala für den Ungarischen Csakan''. After the appearance of this ''Scala'', around 400 more works for the csakan were published, including solos, duets, and pieces with piano or guitar accompaniment.
