Important Stories
iStories or Important Stories () is an independent Russian website specialising in investigative journalism. The website was founded in 2020 by Russian journalists Roman Anin and Olesya Shmagun. iStories published a number of high-profile investigations. The office of the website is located in Latvia. History iStories (the "i" stands for "important") was launched at the end of April 2020. Its founders are Russian journalists Roman Anin and Olesya Shmagun. Anin, Shmagun and several other journalists in their team had previously worked for Novaya Gazeta, a Russian newspaper. 4 out of 10 journalists at iStories were taking part in investigation of the Panama Papers. iStories was created in response to the growing pressure from the Russian government on the media. iStories published its first two investigations with the participation of Novaya Gazeta. Roman Anin
Roman Aleksandrovich Anin (; born 16 December 1986) is a Russian investigative journalist. He is one of the founders of the independent (IStories) outlet and a former journalist for the Russian newspaper '' Novaya Gazeta''. The main investigation in which he was involved is the investigation of the Panama Papers. Biography Roman Anin was born on 16 December 1986 in Chișinău, Moldova. His grandfather was labelled as an "enemy of the people" and spent 15 years in prison. Anin's journalistic career began in 2006, in the sports department of the '' Novaya Gazeta'' newspaper. In 2008, he started working in the investigation department of ''Novaya Gazeta''. In 2010, Anin graduated from the MSU Faculty of Journalism, admission to which was connected with the desire to become a football commentator. Pandora Papers
The Pandora Papers are 11.9 million leaked documents with 2.9 terabytes of data that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) published beginning on 3 October 2021. The leak exposed the secret offshore accounts of 35 world leaders, including current and former presidents, prime ministers, and heads of state as well as more than 100 billionaires, celebrities, and business leaders. The news organizations of the ICIJ described the document leak as their most expansive exposé of financial secrecy yet, containing documents, images, emails and spreadsheets from 14 financial service companies, in nations including Panama, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, surpassing their previous release of the Panama Papers in 2016, which had 11.5 million confidential documents (2.6 terabytes). FinCEN Files
The FinCEN Files are documents from the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), that have been leaked to '' BuzzFeed News'' and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), and published globally on 20 September 2020. The 2,657 leaked documents include 2,121 suspicious activity reports (SARs) covering over 200,000 suspicious financial transactions between 1999 and 2017 valued at over trillion by multiple global financial institutions. The ''BuzzFeed News'' report concludes that the documents appear to show that both the banks that filed the SARs and FinCEN had this financial intelligence but did little to stop activities such as money laundering. The SARs were generated by financial institutions in more than 170 countries that played a role in facilitating money laundering and other fraudulent crimes. Current Time TV () is a Russian-language television channel with editorial office in Prague, created by the US organisations Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Voice of America.
