''Immortalized'' is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Disturbed. The album was released on August 21, 2015 by Reprise Records, and is Disturbed's first studio album since ''Asylum'' (2010), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career. With 98,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, ''Immortalized'' is Disturbed's fifth consecutive number one debut on the United States ''Billboard'' 200 chart. They are the third band in history to achieve this feat, after Metallica and Dave Matthews Band. The band also found crossover success in the album's third single, a cover of the 1964 song " The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, which marked Disturbed's highest ranked single on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 at number 42 and has since become Disturbed's biggest song since "Down with the Sickness". Recording sessions took place at the Cosmic Slop Shop in Fairfield, at Battery Studios, Sound On Sound and Unique Recording in New York, at Infinite Studios in Alameda, at S&A Studios, at DaMo Muzik Works, and at Make Tracks Studios in Modesto. Production was handled by Rick Rock, Kirk Crumpler, Dave Mezee, Grand Exultant, Mo' Benjamin and Tony Harmon, with Scott Gordon and Spice 1 serving as executive producers. Biological immortality (sometimes referred to as bio-indefinite mortality) is a state in which the rate of mortality from senescence is stable or decreasing, thus decoupling it from chronological age. Various unicellular and multicellular species, including some vertebrates, achieve this state either throughout their existence or after living long enough.
