Imamuzzaman Chowdhury
Imamuzzaman Chowdhury is a retired Major General of Bangladesh Army who played a major role in preventing the 1996 Bangladesh coup d'état attempt. Career Chowdhury fought in the Bangladesh Liberation war as a lieutenant. He was awarded Bir Bikrom for his role in the war. He served Principal Staff Officer to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He retired from Bangladesh Army in 2001. He prevented the movement of mutinous soldiers towards Dhaka, which led to the failure of the 1996 Bangladesh coup d'état attempt. Bir Bikrom
Bir Bikrom ( bn, বীর বিক্রম, lit=Valiant hero, translit=) is the third highest gallantry award in Bangladesh. Like the other gallantry awards, this was introduced immediately after the Bangladeshi Liberation War. Bir Bikrom was awarded to 175 fighters. Recipients 175 fighters have been awarded on 15 December 1973 for their heroic actions at the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. The government of Bangladesh declared the name of the awardees in Bangladesh Gazette on 15 December 1973. This list has been prepared on the base of the Gazette. The Principal Staff Officer, abbreviated as PSO, is the principal assistant and chief of staff to the head of the Armed Forces Division, usually the prime minister, of Bangladesh, the high command of the national armed forces. Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) is a government owned corporation in Bangladesh. Shah Md. Imdadul Haque is the chairman of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation. History Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation was founded in 1976. It is in charge of Karnafuli Paper Mills, the largest Paper Mill in Bangladesh. Haiul Quaium is the present chairman of the corporation. It operates 12 factories in Bangladesh including Ashuganj Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited in Brahmanbaria, Urea Fertiliser Factory Ltd in Ghorashal and Polash Urea Fertiliser Factory in Palash, Narsingdi. 10-Truck Arms And Ammunition Haul In Chittagong
The incident of the 10-Truck Arms and Ammunition Haul took place in Chattogram, Bangladesh, on the night of 1 April 2004, when police and Coast Guard interrupted the loading of ten trucks and seized extensive illegal arms and ammunition at a jetty of Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL) on the Karnaphuli River. This is believed to be the largest arms smuggling incident in the history of Bangladesh.
