The Torquays
The Torquays were a popular instrumental surf band from Orange County from 1994 to 2008. The band was originally formed in 1964 by Jerry Gordon and Richard Harmer in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. After Gordon and Harmer moved to Southern California a few years later, the band went dormant until the film ''Pulp Fiction'' came out in 1994. Gordon then reformed the band to include: Duff Paulsen (drums), Don Parra (bass), Steve Soest (guitar) and Armin Brown (guitar) who would replace Gordon in the year 2000. The Deep Six (California Band)
The Deep Six were an American folk rock, sunshine pop and psychedelic band from San Diego, California. They are best-remembered for their self-titled album released in 1966 on Liberty Records. The Deep Six started out as a folk trio in San Diego California, before adding members to their roster and expending into full electric band. They were a predominantly male group backing a female vocalist sometimes referred to as "Miss Dean Cannon." They did a seventeen-week stint as the house band at the Land of Oden, a folk club located in La Mesa, which was co-owned by their co-manager, Ken Mansfield. They released a single for Liberty Records, a subsidiary of Capitol Records, featuring the song "Rising Sun" on which Jim Messina of Buffalo Springfield contributed a guitar part. Meredith Lynn MacRae (May 30, 1944 – July 14, 2000) was an American actress, singer and talk show host. She is most remembered for her roles as Sally Morrison on ''My Three Sons'' (1963–1965) and as Billie Jo Bradley on ''Petticoat Junction'' (1966–1970). Doo-wop (also spelled doowop and doo wop) is a genre of rhythm and blues music that originated in African-American communities during the 1940s, mainly in the large cities of the United States, including New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Baltimore, Newark, Detroit, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles. It features vocal group harmony that carries an engaging melodic line to a simple beat with little or no instrumentation. Otis Williams And The Charms
Otis Williams and the Charms were an American doo-wop vocal group in the 1950s, who were originally billed as The Charms. Williams is not related to Otis Williams of The Temptations. Career Otis Williams (born June 2, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States) attended Withrow High School in Cincinnati, and in 1952 joined an existing singing group in the school when one of its members was sick. The other original members were Bob Smith (tenor) (later replaced by Donald Peak), Rolland Bradley (tenor), Joe Penn (baritone/tenor), and Richard Parker (bass; December 31, 1936 – September 24, 2018). The group, which Williams named The Charms, performed "Rags to Riches" in the Withrow Minstrels in May 1954, where they were seen in the opening show by Syd Nathan of King Records. Nathan only wanted to sign Williams, but Williams insisted on taking the rest of the group along.
