Ilona Usovich
Ilona Usovich ( be, Ілона Усовіч; born 14 November 1982) is a Belarusian sprinter. Together with Natallia Solohub, Anna Kozak and Svetlana Usovich (her sister) she won a silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. The next year Ilona finished 4th over 400 metres at the 2005 European Indoor Athletics Championships. For the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships, the Belarusian team had substituted Svetlana Usovich with Yulyana Zhalniaruk, and won a bronze medal. She finished fifth in the 400 m final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg and won a silver medal in the 4 × 400 m relay. The next year she won the 400 m silver medal and a 4 × 400 m relay gold medal at the 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships. In 2012, she won a bronze medal at the European Championships. Chervyen
Červień or Chervyen ( be, Чэрвень, ; Ігумен – ''Ihumen'' till 1923; russian: Червень ''Cherven''; pl, Czerwień; yi, Humen/Igumen, lt, Červenė), also spelled Cherven, is a Belarusian town in Minsk Region. It is the administrative seat of the Chervyen District and, in 2016, had a population of 9,718. History On February 1, 1942 the German forces and local policemen surrounded the Cherven ghetto. At the same time, other Jews living outside the ghetto walls, such as in the local hospital, were gathered together. They were ordered to undress to their undergarments and lie on the ground, where they were shot dead. Witnesses put the number of victims at between 1,500-1,750 people. The murder operation was carried out by the Einsatzkommando 8 unit of Einsatzgruppe B, with the help of local policeman. The 10th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), were held in the Olympic Stadium, Helsinki, Finland (6 August 2005 – 14 August 2005), the site of the first IAAF World Championships in 1983. One theme of the 2005 championships was paralympic events, some of which were included as exhibition events. Much of the event was played in extremely heavy rainfall. Background Bidding The original winning bid for the competition was for London but the cost to build the required stadium at Picketts Lock and host the event was deemed too expensive by the government. UK Athletics suggested to move the host city to Sheffield (using Don Valley Stadium), but the IAAF stated that having London as the host city was central to their winning the bid.
