Ilmar Reepalu
Ilmar Reepalu (born 11 October 1943) is an Estonian-born Swedish Social Democrat politician who was the 17th chairman of the municipal board in Malmö from 1994 to 2013. After a professional life as an urban planner in Borås and Malmö, he became a municipal commissioner of Malmö in 1985. In opposition from 1985 to 1994, he then served as chairman of the municipal board – a position similar to that of mayor – from the 1994 election until his retirement on 1 July 2013. During his term as chairman of the municipal board, Reepalu was lauded as being instrumental in the transformation of Malmö from an industrial town in decline towards being a centre of knowledge and modern architecture. He also was criticized strongly during his term, both for a surge in crime in the city, and accusations of antisemitism for comments he made in which he allegedly associated attacks on Jews in Malmö with their support for Israel. Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Ilmar Taska (born May 21, 1953, in Vyatka) is an Estonian filmmaker and writer, who was writer and producer for 20th Century Fox movie ''Back in the USSR'' (1992) and producer for '' Candles in the Dark'' directed by Maximilian Schell. Ilmar Taska's 2016 novel ''Pobeda 1946'' has been translated into many languages and was nominated for the Jarl Hellemann Translation Prize in Finland as best translated book of the year (translated by Jouko Vanhanen). In 1933, he tied for 3rd-5th at the 5th EST–ch. The event was won by Gunnar Friedemann. In 1934, he won the 6th EST–ch. In 1936, he took 3rd at the 8th EST–ch. Ilmar Öpik (17 June 1917 Tallinn – 29 July 2001) was an Estonian energetics scientist, academician. In 1940 he graduated from Tallinn University of Technology as an engineer-mechanic. In 1963 he defended his doctoral thesis at Moscow Energetics Institute ( et, Moskva Energeetika Instituut). Since 1946 he taught at Tallinn Polytechnical Institute. Since 1967 he became a member of Estonian Academy of Sciences. 1977-1978 he was the vice-president of the academy. 1984-1996 he was the chief editor of the journal ''Oil Shale''.
