Illtyd (electoral Ward)
Illtyd is the name of an electoral ward in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is represented by councillors on Barry Town Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Description The Illtyd ward covers a residential part of Barry to the west of the town. Barry College campus is in the ward as well as several schools, including the Welsh-medium Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg. The Barry ward of Baruc lies to the south, Dyfan lies to the northeast. The Vale ward of Rhoose lies to the west. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 8,201, with 6,433 of voting age. Castleland
Castleland is an electoral ward in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It elects two county councillors to the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Description The Castleland ward covered an area of Barry southeast of the town centre including a large part of Barry Docks. Two county councillors were elected from the ward to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and two town councillors to Barry Town Council. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 4,852. In 2009 the ward was designated as a renewal zone, earmarked for improvements to housing and public spaces. The Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council was the local authority for the Vale of Glamorgan in South Glamorgan, Wales, created in 1974 and reconstituted in 1996 as the Vale of Glamorgan Council unitary authority. Baruc is the name of an electoral ward in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It covers the southern area of the town, including Barry Island, Cold Knap and the area around Romilly Park. The ward elects three county councillors to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and three councillors to Barry Town Council. The ward is currently represented by Plaid Cymru. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 10,621. In 2022 the number of county councillors was increased from two, to three, as a result of recommendations from the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales.
