Ilgar Ibrahimoglu
Ilgar Ibrahimoglu ( az, İlqar İbrahimoğlu; born 5 November 1973) is the chairman of DEVAMM (the Centre for the Protection of Freedom of Conscience and Religion), Muslim scholar, imam of the "Juma" mosque in Icheri-Sheher and Chief Editor of "Deyerler (Azerbaijan Islam News)" news portal. Early life Ilqar Ibrahimoglu was born on November 5, 1973, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Since his childhood he was engaged in chess under the supervision of honored Azerbaijani trainer Oleg Isaakovich Privorotsky. In his youth he was a team captain in the intellectual game "What? Where? Imam
Imam (; ar, إمام '; plural: ') is an Islamic leadership position. For Sunni Muslims, Imam is most commonly used as the title of a worship leader of a mosque. In this context, imams may lead Islamic worship services, lead prayers, serve as community leaders, and provide religious guidance. Thus for Sunnis, anyone can study the basic Islamic sciences and become an Imam. For most Shia Muslims, the Imams are absolute infallible leaders of the Islamic community after the Prophet. Shias consider the term to be only applicable to the members and descendents of the '' Ahl al-Bayt'', the family of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Violence Against Women
Violence against women (VAW), also known as gender-based violence and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), are violent acts primarily or exclusively committed against women or girls, usually by men or boys. Such violence is often considered a form of hate crime, committed against women or girls specifically because they are female, and can take many forms. More than 90% of the population of Azerbaijan is Muslim. (Estimates include 96.9% Muslim, 93.4% (Berkley Center, 2012), 99.2% (Pew Research Center, 2009).) The rest of the population adheres to other faiths or are non-religious, although they are not officially represented. Among the Muslim majority, religious observance varies and Muslim identity tends to be based more on culture and ethnicity rather than religion. The Muslim population is approximately 85% Shi'a and 15% Sunni; differences traditionally have not been defined sharply.
