Ila Mazumder
Ila Majumder ( — 3 May 2011) was a Bangladeshi classical vocalist. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy awarded her for the special contribution in the field of culture. She was the spouse of the classical musician of Barin Mazumder. Early life and career Majumder had been taught on music by her future husband Barin Mazumder since 1954. She completed her master's in philosophy in 1961. She had served as a teacher in the Willes Little Flower School during 1981–2003. She also served as a part-time teacher in the National Music College for 15 years. Pabna District
Pabna District ( bn, পাবনা জেলা) is a district in central Bangladesh. It is an economically important district in Bangladesh. Its administrative capital is the eponymous Pabna town. Bengal Presidency
The Bengal Presidency, officially the Presidency of Fort William and later Bengal Province, was a subdivision of the British Empire in India. At the height of its territorial jurisdiction, it covered large parts of what is now South Asia and Southeast Asia. Bengal proper covered the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal (present-day Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal). Barin Mazumder
Barin Mazumder (15 February 19213 March 2000) was a Bangladeshi classical musician and educationist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1983 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life Mazumder was born into a Jamindar family at Radhanagar in Pabna District. His father Nishendra Mazumder was an artist and dramatist. His mother used to play sitar. To nurture his interest in music his father took him to Kolkata where he first learned music from Vishmadev Chatterjee. The first Raag that he learned was “Raag Bhupali”. Two years later when his guru became ''shonnasi'' he came back to Pabna, but Mazumder was not satisfied and wanted to go to Lucknow to study music in Maurice Music School. But his uncle who was the patriarch (''korta'') of the family did not allow him to go. Instead, he brought Ustad Roghurangan Gushwami from Lucknow to teach him music at home. Partha Pratim Majumder ( bn, পার্থ প্রতিম মজুমদার; born 18 January 1954) is a Bangladeshi mime artist who is considered the "forerunner" of mime art in Bangladesh. Born in Pabna District in the north-western part of the country, Partha went to France in early 1980s under a scholarship program and trained under Marcel Marceau. Since then he has been performing in several countries throughout the world earning international recognition. In 2010, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak, one of the highest civilian awards in Bangladesh. In 2011, the French government awarded him the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Shubhashish Mazumder Bappa (born 5 February 1972), commonly known as Bappa Mazumder, is a Bangladeshi singer, lyricist and national film award winner composer. He is the lead singer of the rock band Dalchhut. Bappa is famous for his Bengali romantic compositions and is known as The Melody King of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy ( bn, শিল্পকলা একাডেমি; National Academy of Fine and Performing Arts) is the principal state-sponsored national cultural center of Bangladesh. History It is the national academy of fine and performing arts. The academy was established through an act of Parliament in 1974 as a statutory organization under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. But subsequently the Act of 1974 of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy was amended through a new act of Parliament in 1989. The academy is headed by a Director General. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Willes Little Flower School
Willes Little Flower School and College is one of the three first English medium school in Dhaka, Bangladesh and was established in 1956 by philanthropist Josephine Willes. The school follows the English version under Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. The school also provides classes under Pearson Edexcel for students who will sit for A-levels.
