Ignition Records
Ignition Records is a British, London based independent record company, owned by Marcus Russell and Alec McKinlay of Ignition Management. The company has been releasing music on a regular basis since the late 1990s, although its inaugural release came in September 1984 with Latin Quarter's single, "Radio Africa". The label is distributed by The Orchard. Throughout the last two decades it has signed and released music of both emerging and established artists. The company also provides comprehensive label services to various established artists to release on their own label imprints e.g. Stereophonics, Primal Scream. Ignition Records is also the primary label services and marketing operation for Big Brother Recordings and Sour Mash Records, which are also based at Ignition Records headquarters in Marylebone, London, England. Ignition Management
Ignition Management is a London-based music management company run by partners Marcus Russell & Alec McKinlay. Ignition Management was formed in late 1983 by Welshman Marcus Russell, who at the time managed London based band Latin Quarter, who became established in Scandinavia & West Germany before going on to score a UK Hit with the song Radio Africa in 1986. Ignition went on to manage Cambridge band The Bible, before expanding to take on Johnny Marr, The The and Electronic as the 90's approached. It was at this time that previous associate Alec Mckinlay returned from his native New Zealand to London to rejoin Ignition, and to later become a partner with Russell. In May 1993 Ignition took on what was to become their most well known and successful client: Oasis. Joe Strummer
John Graham Mellor (21 August 1952 – 22 December 2002), known professionally as Joe Strummer, was a British singer, musician and songwriter. He was the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist of punk rock band the Clash, formed in 1976. The Clash's second album ''Give 'Em Enough Rope'' (1978) reached No. 2 on the UK charts. Soon after, they achieved success in the US, starting with ''London Calling'' (1979) and peaking with '' Combat Rock'' (1982), which reached No. 7 on the US charts and was certified 2× platinum there. Young Rebel Set
Young Rebel Set were an English Indie Rock band from the North East of England. They formed in Stockton-on-Tees in 2007. The band consisted of Matthew Chipchase (vocals and acoustic guitar), Mark William Evans (guitar, mandolin), Andrew Parmley (electric guitar), Chris Parmley (Bass) and Luke Evans (Drums and Backing Vocals). Wilderado
Wilderado is an American indie folk band from Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. The band was first signed to Iamsound Records, but is now signed to Bright Antenna Records. Wilderado's Max Rainer and Tyler Wimpee met through mutual friends in college and started writing songs together in their fifth year after most of their friends had left. They went on a thirty concert tour with Flipturn in 2022, and expanded the tour to include bands Toledo and Michigander. In 2016, the band released their first EP, ''Misty Shrub''. On July 22, 2016, the band released their second EP titled ''Latigo'' which amassed over 18 million streams on Spotify. Twisted Wheel (band)
Twisted Wheel are an indie rock band from Saddleworth, Greater Manchester, England. Career Formation and debut album Twisted Wheel formed in February 2007 in Saddleworth, Greater Manchester by guitarist and singer Jonny Brown and bassist Rick Lees, later joined by drummer Adam Clarke. Frontman Jonny Brown heard the name in a Paul Weller track "Into Tomorrow", where the lyrics say "Round and round like a twisted wheel, Spinning in attempt to find the feel". Twisted Wheel were booked as one of the support acts for Oasis's 2009 Heaton Park concerts. The band signed to Columbia Records in January 2008. The Coral
The Coral are an English rock band, formed in 1996 in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside. The band emerged during the early 2000s. Their 2002 debut album ''The Coral'', from which came the single " Dreaming of You", was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and listed as the fourth best album of the year by ''NME''. Pusherman
Pusherman was an alternative rock band from London, England. Formed in 1994, the band's lineup consisted of Andy Frank (vocals), Meredith "Yank" Reid (vocals, harmonica), Bo Ellery (bass), Martin Hoyland (guitar), Tony Antoniou (guitar) and Harry Harrison (drums). Pusherman were signed to Oasis manager Marcus Russell's Ignition Records label, who released their first single entitled "First Time" in November 1995. Pretty Vicious
Pretty Vicious were a Welsh rock band originally from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales formed in 2014. The group received attention from publications including ''NME'' and '' Paste''. The band signed to Big Machine Records in 2018. Singles "Move" and "Are You Entertained" were released under the label. Their debut album ''Beauty of Youth'' was released on 12 July 2019. In a statement issued on 23 October 2019, the band announced that they would be splitting up and then re-emerge as a new group in 2020, without frontman Brad Griffiths, who took a break from performing with the band in 2019, with health issues. The band's last show took place at 17 January 2020, with Himalayas member Joe assisting in the show. Peace (band)
Peace are an English indie rock quartet, formed in Worcester. The band consists of brothers Harry (vocals, guitar) and Sam Koisser (bass), Doug Castle (guitar) and Dom Boyce (drums). The band began to receive critical acclaim in early 2012, from publications such as ''The Guardian'' and ''NME'', who compared them to The Maccabees, Foals, Wu Lyf and Vampire Weekend. Milky Chance
Milky Chance is a German rock band originating in Kassel. It consists of vocalist and guitarist Clemens Rehbein, bassist and percussionist Philipp Dausch, and their band members, Antonio Greger and Sebastian Schmidt. Their first single, " Stolen Dance", was released in April 2013, topping the charts in several countries. It also won the 1Live Krone radio award for Best Single. The Furze
The Furze are a British indie band from Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. The members of the band have been recording together for more than ten years, and the same line-up have previously performed under the name Kid Galahad. The band’s current name is a reference to Furze Platt, the suburb of Maidenhead where all the members hail from. Their music style has been compared to that of Beck and Jane's Addiction. The band have supported a number of prominent bands and artists at concerts around the world, including Marillion, Kaiser Chiefs, Supergrass, Oasis, Kings of Leon and Elliott Smith. Justin Robert Currie (born 11 December 1964) is a Scottish singer and songwriter best known as a founding member of the band Del Amitri. Career Del Amitri Justin Currie was born in Glasgow and established the band Del Amitri in the early 1980s after putting up a sign in a music shop asking for other people who could play instruments to get in contact with him.
