Ignatius John Doggett (born 1907 in Rydal, New South Wales) was an Australian clergyman and bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Aitape The Roman Catholic Diocese of Aitape is a suffragan diocese of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madang. Rydal, New South Wales
Rydal is a small rural village in New South Wales, Australia.Rydal Village Association Inc. web site: http://www.rydal.com.au/ Rydal is located about west of the state capital, Sydney and west from the city of Lithgow about 6 km off the Great Western Highway. The Main Western Railway line passes through Rydal. Rydal station is serviced by daily Transport NSW train services to and from Sydney and Bathurst, as well as the Dubbo XPT passenger service. First settled in the 1820s, Rydal was located on Major Mitchell's main road to Bathurst, and was a busy village through the mid-1800s and early 1900s. The Great Western Highway by-passed Rydal in 1929. There is a hotel/pub, providing accommodation, meals and coffees, and open over the weekend, but no other shops. Closest shops and fuel are at Wallerawang (12 km). Accommodation is also available at a number of bed and breakfast establishments. There is a public pay telephone. Throughout its history, it has also been published as ''The Freeman's Journal'' and ''Catholic Freeman's Journal''. History The paper's history can be traced back to 27 June 1850 when it was named ''The Freeman's Journal'', under the influence of editor and later-archdeacon John McEncroe (1794–1868). Printer and publisher Jeremiah Moore went onto running a successful bookstore. John Francis Blakeney (–1914) was one of its principal editors, commencing as an apprentice in 1867. The managing director until 1919 was Mr J. H. de Courcy, having started in the printing section of the paper about 1865.
