Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya
Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya (27 October 1937 – 27 September 2021) was a Cameroonian politician and traditional King. Biography He was trained as a civil administrator at the Institute for Administrative Studies in Dakar, after which he entered politics as a member of Cameroon's ruling party, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement. He was a Senator and held several important government positions including Vice Minister of National Education and Culture, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Information, and ambassador to Equatorial Guinea and Egypt. He was the king of the Bamum people from 1992 until his disappearance in 2021. COVID-19
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by a virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Bamum People
The Bamum, sometimes called Bamoum, Bamun, Bamoun, or Mum, are a Grassfields languages, Grassfields ethnic group of Cameroon with around 215,000 members. Religion The Bamum traditional religion placed great emphasis on ancestral spirits which were embodied in the skulls of the deceased ancestors. The eldest males of each lineage had possession of the skulls of deceased males. When moving a diviner must find an appropriate place to hold the skull. Despite these efforts some men's skulls remained unclaimed and their spirits are deemed restless. Ceremonies are thus done to placate these spirits. There is also respect for female skulls, but the details are less documented. They also believed women made the soil fruitful, thus women did the planting and harvesting. Seidou Njimoluh Njoya
Seidou Njimoluh Njoya (Bamum: ''Sɛt-tu Nʒemɔleʔ Nʒeɔya'' , 1902 – 28 July 1992)DeLancey and DeLancey 206. ruled the Bamum people of Cameroon from 1933 to 1992 as the Sultan of Foumban and Mfon of the Bamun. Njimoluh was the son of Ibrahim Njoya, and he was educated in French, English, and the bamum script developed by his father. In 1931, in order to break the power of the Bamun, French administrators had exiled Ibrahim Njoya to Yaoundé. The Bamum nobles had been scattered due to the French occupation, but they eventually chose Njimoluh from among Ibrahim Njoya's 177 children and reached an agreement with the French authorities. Seidou Njimoluh Njoya became the 18th mfon of the Bamum in June 1933 after the death of his father. Senate (Cameroon)
The Senate is the upper house of the Parliament of Cameroon. History The Senate was created in 1996 after an amendment to the constitution created the upper chamber. However, power to convene the Electoral College and call elections for the Senate remained with the President. President Paul Biya chose not to do so until he signed decree 2013/056 on 27 February 2013, which set 14 April as the election date. Electoral system The Senate has 100 seats, of which 70 are elected and 30 appointed by the President, with each region having 10 Senators. The Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM; french: Rassemblement démocratique du Peuple Camerounais, RDPC) is the ruling political party in Cameroon. Previously known as the Cameroonian National Union, which had dominated Cameroon politics since independence in the 1960s, it was renamed in 1985.
