Ian Paia
Ian Paia (born 28 October 1990) is a Solomon Islands footballer who currently plays for Solomon Warriors in the Telekom S-League as a forward. Club career Paia has been a youth product of Koloale FC Honiara. After a few years he signed for the Solomon Warriors in 2014. After playing in the OFC Champions League he signed in 2017 for Vanuatuan side Ifira Black Bird. After winning the Vanuatuan Championship he returned to the Solomon Warriors. International career Paia played his first international game with the senior national team on 9 July 2011 against Vanuatu (0–0). Solomon Islands
Solomon Islands is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania, to the east of Papua New Guinea and north-west of Vanuatu. It has a land area of , and a population of approx. 700,000. Its capital, Honiara, is located on the largest island, Guadalcanal. Vanuatu National Football Team
The Vanuatu national football team is the national team of Vanuatu and is controlled by the Vanuatu Football Federation. History It was known as the New Hebrides national football team until the New Hebrides became Republic of Vanuatu in 1980. It finished fourth in the OFC Nations Cup in 1973, 2000, and 2002. In the 2004 Oceania Nations Cup, Vanuatu beat New Zealand 4–2, preventing the regional powerhouse from making the final and, consequently, the running for the 2006 World Cup. The 2010–11 Telekom S-League was the 8th season of the Telekom S-League in the Solomon Islands. Koloale won the league for the fourth time and also qualified as the Solomon Islands representative for the 2011–12 OFC Champions League through the 2011 Solomon Islands Champions League Playoff against Solomon Warriors. It was known as the Solomon Islands National Club Championship from 2000 until 2010, when the official name was changed. Format In the current format, all teams compete in a round robin, where the team that ends at the first place are crowned champions. Together with the second-placed team, they qualify for the OFC Champions League. The bottom team is then relegated to the Second Division, while the best performing team from that league is promoted to this league. The OFC Champions League, also known as the O-League, is the premier men's club soccer competition in Oceania. It is organised by the OFC, Oceania's football governing body.
