Ian Newton (born 17 January 1940) is an English ornithologist. Education and early life Newton was born and raised in north Derbyshire and was educated at Chesterfield Grammar School. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. The American Ornithological Society (AOS) is an ornithological organization based in the United States. The society was formed in October 2016 by the merger of the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) and the Cooper Ornithological Society.
