Ian Davidson (British Politician)
Ian Graham Davidson (born 8 September 1950) is a Scottish politician who served as chair of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee from 2010 to 2015. A member of the Scottish Labour Party and Co-operative Party, he was Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow South West, formerly Glasgow Pollok, from 1992 to 2015. Davidson previously worked as a Community Service Manager and for Janey Buchan when she was a Member of the European Parliament. In 2017 and 2019, he was Scottish Labour's parliamentary candidate in Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk. Ian Ormiston Davidson (born 1 January 1951) is a former Member of the South African Parliament from the Democratic Alliance. He served as the Shadow Minister of International Relations and Co-operations from 2012 to 2013. He left parliament in 2014. Education After matriculating from Parktown Boys' High School, Davidson went to the University of the Witwatersrand where he studied law. Ian Davidson is a British scriptwriter who also acted, directed and produced in television and the theatre from the 1960s. After performing and writing with Michael Palin and Terry Jones at Oxford University - his first BBC writing credit was for ''That Was the Week That Was'' in 1963 - he became an actor at The Second City in Chicago. Returning to the UK, he worked for Ned Sherrin (as a film director) and David Frost, and then began a lifelong association with Barry Humphries as a writer and director. He appears, briefly, in many of the ''Monty Python's Flying Circus'' episodes - notably as a Dead Indian On a Pile of Dung, and as a news reporter who interrupts a sketch to say that it's his first time appearing on television. Ian Charles Davidson (born 21 October 1964) is a former English cricketer. Davidson was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born at Roe Green, Worsley, Lancashire. Davidson made two first-class appearances for Lancashire. The first came against Warwickshire at Edgbaston in the 1985 County Championship. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lancashire made 148 all out, with Davidson scoring 13 runs before he was dismissed by Paul Smith. In response, Warwickshire made 122 all out in their first-innings. Lancashire then made 321 all out in their second-innings, during which Davidson was dismissed for a duck by Anton Ferreira. Set 348 to win, Warwickshire reached their target with one wicket to spare, despite Davidson taking the wickets of Andy Lloyd and Alvin Kallicharran, claiming figures of 2/24. Ian Damon (born Ian Davidson 5 June 1935) is a British radio personality. Born in Sydney, Australia and after 8 years as a broadcaster on New South Wales stations 2RG and 2LF, Damon decided to tour Europe and Canada settling in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire in the UK during which time, he presented a regular show on Radio Stortford (Bishop's Stortford Hospital Radio), a volunteer-run organisation broadcasting via GPO landline to the Herts and Essex Hospital, Rye Street Hospital and Elmhurst Care Home, all in Bishop's Stortford and for a while, the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex. He joined the offshore Radio London/Big L on the MV Galaxy replacing Tony Blackburn in 1967; and was given the name of 'Wombat' by Tony Brandon. Davidson played club rugby with North of Ireland F.C., was capped 9 times for Ireland, and was a member of the British Isles team that toured South Africa in 1903. Early life and club Davidson was a pupil at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution, before going on to play club rugby for North of Ireland F.C. based in Belfast. International rugby Davidson made his debut for the Ireland national team against England at Lansdowne Road on 4 February 1899. Ireland won the match and would go on to become the champions of the 1899 Home Nations Championship. Later that year, Ireland embarked on their first ever international tour to Canada, with Davidson the only member of the touring party to have also competed in that year's Home Nations Championship.
