I Dare You (The Xx Song)
"I Dare You" is a song by English indie pop band the xx, released on 2 May 2017 by Young Turks. It was the third single from their third studio album, '' I See You'' (2017). The song was written by guitarist Romy Madley Croft, bassist Oliver Sim and percussionist Jamie xx, and produced by Jamie xx and Rodaidh McDonald. Critical reception Alexis Petridis of ''The Guardian'' described it as an "uncharacteristically sunlit" song that "Shawn Mendes or Zara Larsson could conceivably cover, rather than just nick the sound of". ''Entertainment Weekly''s Nolan Feeney called it "a warm, uptempo ode to all-consuming infatuation". The band consists of Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass guitar, vocals), Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx (beats, MPC, record production), and formerly Baria Qureshi (keyboard, guitar). They are known for their distinct and minimalist sound that blends indie rock, indie electronic, indie pop, dream pop and electro-rock and the dual vocalist setup of both Croft and Sim. Their music employs soft, echoed guitar, prominent bass, light electronic beats and ambient soundscape backgrounds. John Sowden House
John Sowden House, also known as the "Jaws House" or the "Franklin House", is a residence built in 1926 in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles, California by Lloyd Wright. The house is noted for its use of ornamented textile blocks and for its striking facade, resembling (depending on the viewer's points of cultural reference) either a Mayan temple or the gaping open mouth of a great white shark. Architecture and design The original owner, John Sowden, was a painter and photographer who hired his friend, Lloyd Wright (eldest son of Frank Lloyd Wright), to build his home on Franklin Ave in Los Feliz. The house is built using concrete textile blocks and Mayan themes, with decorative block-work along some of the interior walls. Frank Lloyd Wright Jr. (March 31, 1890 – May 31, 1978), commonly known as Lloyd Wright, was an American architect, active primarily in Los Angeles and Southern California.
