"I Can Dream About You" is a song performed by American singer Dan Hartman on the soundtrack album of the film ''Streets of Fire''. Released in 1984 as a single from the soundtrack, and included on Hartman's album '' I Can Dream About You'', it reached number 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Background The song first appeared in ''Streets of Fire'', where it was performed by the fictional group The Sorels. Daniel Earl Hartman (December 8, 1950 – March 22, 1994) was an American rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Among songs he wrote and recorded were " Free Ride" as a member of the Edgar Winter Group, and the solo hits "Relight My Fire", "Instant Replay", "I Can Dream About You", "We Are the Young" and " Second Nature". Robert Townsend (born February 6, 1957) is an American actor, director, comedian, and writer. The Drifters
The Drifters are several American doo-wop and R&B/Soul music, soul vocal groups. They were originally formed as a backing group for Clyde McPhatter, formerly the lead tenor of Billy Ward and his Dominoes in 1953. The second group of Drifters, formed in 1959 and led by Ben E. King, were originally an up-and-coming group named The Five Crowns. After 1965 members drifted in and out of both groups and many of these formed other groups of Drifters as well.
